Food/prepped meals for SC France

We are shortly heading off for a SC holiday in France (house). Our spending budget is really tight and although we will eat out a few times, it would be great to keep costs down by taking easily transportable store cupboard items, plus a few prepped meals.

We have a reasonably large boot so space for lots of cool boxes.

Can anyonone suggest a list of staples and simple meals I could freeze and transport?

We normally take something like a Bolognese for the first night, frozen when we set off, nearly defrosted when we arrive. My tip would be to shop at Lidl when you're there which should help mitigate the exchange rate. I don't like to take too much because I love french supermarkets, but I also like to have a break from loads of cooking. We often just buy rotisserie chicken from the supermarket (or often a van in the supermarket car park) and eat with baguette and salad. Or same thing but lovely merguez sausages. Cheap, quick and feels french.

Heinz Creationz is a range of tinned prepared beans and pulses, including lentil curry, Mexican beans, chickpea tagine etc... serve with either rice or baked potato.
I use a lot of packet couscous. Ainsley Harriett does a nice range with a lot of different flavours. It only takes about 15 minutes to soak in boiling water. We like the Mediterranean style with added cherry tomatoes and some feta cheese crumbled in. I also do the lemon and coriander one with a packet of cooked prawns or cooked chicken breast.
You can get ready-flavoured tins of tuna. I use these to quickly make a cold pasta salad or have them with jacket potatoes. Or just get plain tuna and add a tin of sweetcorn and some mayo. I get the tin of tuna in a Mexican dressing and have it with Mexican microwave rice and sweetcorn.
I also buy packets of flavoured microwave rice which I tip straight into deseeded red pepper halves, before topping with slices of mozzarella and popping in the oven for twenty minutes.
You could take a frozen tagine www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/spiced_vegetable_tagine_32956 and have it with couscous. But you don’t actually have to freeze it, as it keeps really well for a few days.
You could take a quiche and some coleslaw.

Bolognaise is easy to make and freeze to travel with. Shop from your cupboard at home for stuff to take - pasta, rice, tuna, biscuits - and anything else that you know you will use. Shop in cheaper supermarkets when there for bread/fresh stuff
