guys honestly why is evenone being so nasty to eachother - i didnt realise that to be a memnber of mumsnet we all had to agree on everything - and dont think there is any need to be rude to people if you dont agree

As for the clubbing comment whoever that was aimed at - it was still pretty unfair - what need was there for that was it towards younger mum ??????? If so surely there is more respect for a young mum who isnt out clubbing ...

let me understand this

so postmen shouldn't be allowed to strike to help them negotiate better working conditions because it affects you and your friend

so by extension neither should anyone: nurse, firefighters, teachers, water treatment staff, gas engineers etc

so basically workers should just let the management decide the nature of their workday and the relevant pay and have no say in it .. they should trust management to do what's right for them as the workforce rather than what's right for the shareholder's bank balance

is that what you're saying?

I think when questionnaires are started up to stop a certain sector of the British workforce from striking we are on very dangerous territory. Historically workers have fought for unions and the right to strike for fair treatment. Whether you agree with the reasons for the strike or not,to ask the government to intervene and stop them striking is removing their rights and where would it stop?

Crossed posts Twig.

lillaura - am just getting the impression you have no knowledge of what you are talking about. This petion thing is undrmining to people who are having a very difficult time in their workplace. It isn't surprising the flack you are getting.
