Can be changeable, have known people go and have rain but when we went in December it was pleasant. Warm enough for a t shirt until about 4pm when the sun went down and we all started shivering around the pool (Fuerteventura) I'm not sure there will be much difference weatherwise between the islands but might be wrong.

We stayed in Playa Blanca in lanzarote in December and the weather was lovely, around 23 degrees most days, although you needed a cardigan in the evening. We did have one day where it was cloudy and showered though.

Lived in Tenerife for years.

Winter can be sunny. Days are usually 22-25° and evenings down to 12-18°.

It can also be much hotter or even colder. It doesn't tend to be particularly cloudy but takes a while for sun to burn through if it is.
It can also rain - A LOT! Not normally for long periods but when it rains it comes down thick and fast.

What surprised me was winter visitors would be in shorts and t shirts and think it got. We'd be in jeans and coat and find it cold!

Definitely better than what the uk are use to!

Well it will be warmer than the UK. However can vary from mid 20s down to mid/high teens C. Evenings will be cooler - I always find that I don't take a warm enough jacket to be comfortable sitting outside.

I have been to the main four islands in most of the winter months and generally it's been okay for weather. One year was a bit of a wash out- very wet and windy - but that was unusual in my memory.

My favourite island is Tenerife. Now that we are without small DC we stay in the North and tour around the towns and villages. There is a lot to do on the island for everyone. Also very good bus service if you don't want to hire a car.

We have stayed in both the north and south Tenerife in December. The south of the island was significantly warmer than the north, we travelled across a couple of days when we stayed in the north.

We go every year the week before Christmas, have done for 4 years I think. Had the odd cloudy day (in the south) but generally it's always been lovely. You do need a jacket for the evening if you are sat out. But we find daytime temps are brilliant, warm enough for the beach or pool but not too hot that you are worrying about heatstroke or little ones cooking.

I would avoid Fuerteventura in December as it is very windy and therefore feels cooler.

Been a few times in December week before Christmas had mid to late thirties every time. Did have a tropical thunderstorm.once but it cleared up as quick as it started. Me and my DP are going last week of November this year hope weather will be just as nice.

wannabemum38 · 19/08/2019 22:38

I meant late twenties sorry not thirties lol

Have been to Gran Canaria in November & December a few times and had beautiful weather. Make sure you choose somewhere that specifically has a heated pool (not all places do, and you'd feel the difference in winter)

I'd highly recommend the resorts of Mogan and Meloneras in Gran Canaria.

HappyParent2000 · 23/08/2019 13:18

South Tenerife, esp Adeje

KitKat1985 · 24/08/2019 19:16

Tenerife probably the warmest.

Lanzarote can get some quite strong winds which can make it feel quite chilly in the winter months.
