DLP, where to stay!?

imamearcat · 11/08/2019 23:07

We are thinking of going to DLP October half term (sorry, sure this has been done to death!).

Not sure where to stay?? The Disney ones seem very expensive, anyone have any tips? Thinking of the centre parks that's just by there?

We’ve stayed at Le Chene Gris www.irisparc.co.uk/disneyland-paris/

Hi,
We stayed at relais spa. One stop from DLP on the rer train - commuter train, so goes all the time. Really nice hotel with little tiny kitchenette to cook in. You can go to the huge supermarket or takeaway places in the shopping centre at Val d'Europe and make pasta or something. And bring packed lunch to the park. Brilliant holiday!

queerukuleleplayer · 12/08/2019 06:39

Looking for self-catering apartments in places like Val d’Europe can be so much cheaper (and more relaxing) than the main Disney hotels. VdE is one stop on the RER from the parks, and is a lovely little town. The only thing I would say is that food in the parks is expensive, and meal plans can only be booked with hotels - you would most likely want to come out of the parks and go to somewhere like McDonald’s or earl of sandwich in the Disney village for cheaper lunches :)

Milliefizz · 12/08/2019 08:36

+1 for the relais spa at Val Europe. We have also stayed at the nearest Novotel to Disney, the Kyriad and the Dream Castle on separate occasions. All have been fine. The main issue we had with eating in the park was not the cost but the fact that restaurants got booked up. We had a large breakfast at the hotel and a mid afternoon meal in one of the restaurants in the park. Then odd snacks like waffles if we were hungry late morning or in the evening. The evening show with fireworks was the highlight for us so it is definitely worth staying somewhere near the park where you will easily be able to get back at 11ish when it finishes. I would suggest contacting Eurostar and Brittany Ferries to see if they have any hotel plus transport deals. When we have booked hotel plus transport through one of these companies the hotel has been substantially cheaper. However I am not sure if Eurostar still offer train plus hotel. We also bought an annual pass which was the same price as a three day ticket and that was how we managed to go several times in one year.

We found the Disney hotels to be good value because they include park tickets, which are pricey if bought seperately.

Relationshipsajoke · 12/08/2019 08:56

I personally love to stay on site (sequoia lodge is my favourite but if money were no object the main hotel it worth it) best place to look for advice is the dedicated trip advisor forum, there is a regular poster called figgy, she stays off site and is full of knowledge!

imamearcat · 12/08/2019 09:55

Thanks for the info guys. @Ricekrispie22, what did you think of that campsite? We've just been to a Eurocamp and quite enjoyed it. It's really really cheap!!

Bothering me that pretty much everywhere has

I always prefer to stay on site , the car park is quite a haul from the park and not cheap and it’s so convenient being able to pop in and out of the hotel . When the dc were small we used to stay at the New York , although we’ve also done Sequoia Lodge ( very nice) and Newport Bay( not my taste) . Nowadays we stay at the Disneyland Hotel for convenience as dd has CFS .

DefConOne · 12/08/2019 10:44

We bought annual passes one year and did two trips in the year (sadly too far away to have gone more). First time we stayed in a caravan with Canvas at Les Etangs Fleuris. We had parking included and the drive was about 20 minutes. The second time we stayed at the Adagio hotel apartment with a free shuttle bus. No further to travel than some of the Disney hotels and close to Val D'Europe for hypermarket. We did a mix of picnics and Disney restaurants to keep the price down and eat delicious French food. It was so much cheaper to stay off site and we hate sharing one room between four of us so off site made sense for us.

TantricTwist · 12/08/2019 17:15

We just came back from staying at Disney Hotel Cheyenne.

The Disney hotels always have good offers so you get a couple of nights free including free Park entry for the extra days. It works out much cheaper to stay at a Disney Hotel imho. Plus it's super convenient as they have a constant bus service to and from the parks to the Hotel.

If I go back to DLP I will research what other posters above have mentioned to see about cutting costs. I want everything as stress free as possible. We got very cheap easyjet flights there and back this time and 2 nights and 2 free days at both Parks and the Hotel.

TantricTwist · 12/08/2019 17:21

Ps we wanted to stay at Seqouia Lodge but were correctly informed that the pool would be out of action which it currently is and has been for a while, so I'd have been annoyed to have spent the extra with no pool.

Whattodoinleeds · 12/08/2019 17:23

Villages nature paris is great

linentowel · 12/08/2019 18:18

I have just booked for November. I did off site and one site. Cheaper onsite plus it’s free dining just now.

mymadworld · 12/08/2019 18:25

We stayed at Novotel Marne La Vallée Collégien - it was 15 min drive to DLP and we found the parking really easy. Fantastic and sizeable breakfast, swimming pool, basketball, table tennis & games tables for the children and cost us £270 for 2 nights b&b in a decent family room. We didn't rate the food on site at all & found it hugely expensive so would take snacks and drinks bottles.

Ithinkmycatisevil · 13/08/2019 07:07

We are staying in the b&b hotel which is a Disney partner. It’s probably the most basic of all, but it was great value and included all the park tickets in the deal. Also breakfast is included in the price, where as at all the other hotels you have to pay extra. They also put on a free bus service to the park, and even if you were to walk, it looks as if it’d only take about 20 minutes.

Cheap and cheerful, that’s what I’m all about.

kiabella · 13/08/2019 07:13

I would recommend staying on site in a basic hotel like Cheyenne or Santa Fe. It’s full on so you don’t get much tome at the end of the day to do much other than eat and sleep so it’s not always worth paying out for the more expensive hotel. Benefits of being on site is the free shuttle service, extra magic hours and your park tickets are included. If you can get a half board meal plan thrown in too you’re winning (half board is all you need, and take packed lunch for in the parks (you’re allowed to take in your own food)

If you’re flexible on dates the early booking offers are very reasonable. We go in January and if you pick a blue super value day for arrival (these are in the brochure which you can find on the website) it works out at around £500 for a family of 4 (my children are both under 7 though so they are free)

imamearcat · 13/08/2019 19:02

I think we are going to book the centre parcs. It's a Disney partner so you can get the park tickets included and the magic hours. It's cheaper than the Santa Fe etc. But you only get 2 days of Park instead of 4 (for 3 nights) but I think that will be enough for us, we can do some centre Parc things the other days.

We will be taking a car and get free parking at Disney.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Hotel eylesse. Read the reviews it's fab hotel. Lovely on site restaurant, free shuttle to park moments from the door.
Fridge in room!
Huge massive supermarket moment from hotel and bolongerie. Every morning had fresh baggsttes to take into Parc and other goodies. We ate lunch in park and counter service (around 45 euro for four) in park or ate at hotel.

We had annual passes which got us in early, before hotel guests actually as the pass has special access and you don't get stuck in the hotel guest queue. Also money off counter service and toys.

Always check annual pass rates before booking.
Also it was free parking with the pass so we had option to drive in. And free pushchairs.
We stayed at camp site near by once and it was OK. The dc enjoyed the pool but overall preferred the hotel.
