Taking food/ snacks to Greece

Having seen another thread about snacks for travels/ planes it got me thinking. Taking dc to Rhodes in October and I’m now wondering what I take to have once we’ve arrived.

I know biscuits/ crackers etc will be fine regarding boarder controls/ rules. But my dc like dried apricots and raisins as snacks. I was thinking of taking a dozen or so of the mini packs to be eaten during the week. Would that be allowed? If not can anyone suggest other snacks to take. I’m only after enough to see us through the first few days.
Thanks all

You’re going to Greece. Take it you know where Apricots come from? Don’t think you’ll need to take any with you.

Thank for the advice lovely. I was more concerned with the legality/ customs side of things. Am I going to have dried fruit taken off me at customs is really what I would like to know?

They sell dried fruit in Greece. I wouldn’t bother.

Chances that they’ll be taken off you are slim. If you’re worried buy them at Boots or Pret in the departure lounge

Customs in general, I think advise against taking any fruit / veg / seeds / flowers in or out of the country. Think it's due to a possibility of carrying disease or insects.
There was a news story this week about someone having imported a wasp that could potentially wreak havoc if it was to breed.

That said, I wouldn't imagine boxes of raisins pose a great threat. But... I'm going to Greece in 2 weeks. I only take tea bags. Because the supermarkets are pretty good out there. Even in quieter areas. So I just don't think it's worth carrying extra bits. It's only going to save a quid or so.

I've taken packs of rasins etc before.

I didn't think there were any restrictions on food when you're travelling between EU countries?

Thanks spam and a very appropriate user name!

I’m on the blood sugar diet, so took snacks to eat on the plane, an apple, celery bits, cubes of hard cheese and some quinoa cheesy puffs. They went through the scanner with no problems at security. You are allowed to take food, just not liquids or yogurt.

you're travelling within the EU there are very few restrictions on what you can take - at least until the shit show that's brexit takes off

thanks again all. We are going HB so need a few bits with good intentions to stem the tide of chips and ice cream!
