Children are older so they carry and organise their own now so I just have to pack for me. What lovely extras do you pack to make flying more comfortable and pleasant?

Not much -

passports
money
Kindle
phone and earphones
bottle of water once through security, plus a snack
lip balm and a little water spray can

Spare set of clothes, travel sized toiletries, toothbrush and a book.

Depending on the length of flight (and what class of cabin)

Pillowcase, to put over the airline one no matter how clean

Wipes to clean around me, tray table, remote/screen etc.

Socks/flip flops never walk around in bare feet

Large pashmina

Spare undies

Make up (lots of lip balm and moisturiser and hand cream)

Mints

Note book pen

Noise cancelling earphones

Laptop

Toothbrush/paste

Top to change into before landing (if long haul)

Change of clothing to sleep in.

Spare glasses/lenses

Then all the usual paperwork etc.

This all fits in a small carry on without the lap top weighs about 5 kgs

Hand luggage is entirely packed in case hold luggage lost.
Pants, swimwear, spare dress of the sort you can screw into a ball. Medicines (sadly I need a lot of those), chargers, tablet, flip flops, sunglasses. Plus antiseptic wipes for everything you might touch on a plane. I wear linen type trousers and trainers to travel.

Tablet and headphones with enought to watch (usually iplayer downloads) and books loaded on kindle app. As well as being practical for passing time I've found it can also come in handy if you have strange seat neighbours and can politely distance yourself by popping headphones on and becoming/pretending to be engrossed in a film!

And I always pack anti-bac wipes for the tray and seat back screens.

I fly with hand luggage only, so everything.

But in my handbag:

iPhone
iPod Shuffle
Kindle Fire (so I can watch some TV shows on the plane)
Empty water bottle (to refill when I get past security)
Few bits of food - sandwich, crisps, chocolate bars etc
Newspaper
Face powder, blusher and lipgloss
Hairbrush
Liquids bag for toiletries
Purse
Passport and boarding pass
