EasyJet hands free

Has anyone used easyJet hands free from Gatwick. We have hand baggage only tickets but for £7 it looks like we could drop off a bag and not worry about liquids (shampoo suntan lotion etc). Happy to dump the leftover bottles at the end of the holiday.

Is the drop off point before or after security? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have done this. You drop off your (liquid-filled!) bag at the check-in desk and it gets tagged with a priority tag and whisked away. You then go through security as normal but without all the hassle of a bag and liquids. I travel very light anyway, but on this occasion I didn't know how long I would be away so had a bit more stuff than usual so dropping off the bag made a difference.

I think the only "restriction" is that the bag must still conform to the on-board hand-baggage size.
When we landed, my bag was first off the conveyor. Definitely recommend it.

Jacknanna thanks. Looks like a non brainer compared to paying £60 to check in a bag.

Can you still take a bag on board if you do this? (Just get rid of the bulk as it were)

I think that you probably can take a "standard" bag on board too as there is nothing to identify you as having dropped off a hands-free bag.

I had my large-ish handbag with me which certainly wouldn't have fitted into my rucksack as per their rules.

The only slight drawback is having to queue for the bag drop, but I didn't wait too long but our local airport is a bit quieter than Gatwick.

Thanks thats good to know.

I have used this at Gatwick. It was self service machines which were a bit of a pain but it saves all the faffing about at security. I was able to take my handbag through and kids had a small bag with snacks in it.

It was £6 or after£14 for the family so I felt I was well worth it.

We do this all the time. The family price is now £16 I think - the price of this service has gone up steadily since it was introduced annoyingly - but that gives you up to six bags. As long as they are cabin bag sized there is no weight limit, and paying for Hands Free also gets your priority boarding after the full-on priority boarders. Even without liquids, it’s brilliant travelling with young children to be able to go through the airport without all the stuff.

We flew yesterday and I booked the hands free. It was brilliant. Dropped our liquid filled cabin luggage off and went through with a tote bag (the kids hand their backpacks). Bags were first off when we arrived.

Would do again. The easyJet cabin bag size is generous so you can pack alot in. Would probably check one bag in next time with the liquids. Much cheaper (£7) vs a check in bag (£30)
