Hi everyone, hope you're all having a lovely day. I am very confused about the whole jet2 check in process. I don't want to check in online but at the check-in desk as we have to check in our bags but what do we bring? Do i still need to print something off or do i just turn up and show our passport numbers? also why do they not require passport numbers until your at the airport? it stresses me out :S

hope someone can put my mind at ease

Why don't you want yo check in online? If you have hold baggage you will need yo check your luggage in anyway.

Is there something you can print off to show at the airport - confirmation email for example?

violetdazed · 01/08/2019 23:53

Just check in online.
It really is very hassle free- what are your objections?

Print off your boarding passes and you're sorted. We just did it couple of days ago. Had to swipe our boarding passes and stick labels on suitcases once we were there, then plonked the cases on the conveyer belt and all was sorted
Quick word of warning tho- if you're travelling from Manchester allow plenty of time for security- it was manic!!

Check in on line. You don't need to print off anything you can get everything sent to your phone.

At the airport turn up with your passport and cases and head to the baggage drop off. It's an easy process with plenty staff around to help you out.

I can confirm that Manchester security takes ages.

BarbaraofSeville · 02/08/2019 08:31

I think they can find your booking from the passport names, but I really would recommend checking in online - also check you don't have to pay to check in a the airport, I don't think you do with Jet2, but rules can change and it's a while since I flew with them.

If you check in as soon as possible - you can do it from about a month in advance of your outward flight, you have a better chance of getting seats together for free, which is incentive enough in my book.

BarbaraofSeville · 02/08/2019 08:33

Agree that Manchester security can take ages, especially first thing in the morning. I nearly missed a flight once because I was in the queue for well over an hour. However, I've also been through mid afternoon and it took about 5 minutes.

Leeds is usually quite efficient, don't know about the other airports Jet2 uses, the OP hasn't said where she is flying from.

Unless there’s a very good reason why not then check in online (I dont think you can with children under 2 though). If you do it there you will be charged for the boarding passes and probably won’t be seated together

TapasForTwo · 02/08/2019 08:39

"If you do it there you will be charged for the boarding passes"

When did Jet2 start charging for boarding passes? They never used to.

Hoppinggreen · 02/08/2019 09:30

Apologies if I’m wrong, we always check in online and as the other budget airlines do I thought they did too.

TraffordTansy · 02/08/2019 17:33

I've regularly flown jet2 from Manchester, the whole process is set up primarily for online check in and works really well.

Security can take a while.

cazzyg · 02/08/2019 20:57

The easiest way to do it is check in online. Then take your boarding passes and passports to the bag drop off at the airport.

Groovee · 04/08/2019 18:16

I've checked in online then downloaded the boarding passes on to my phone.

Then you just head to Jet2 check in. At Manchester we scanned the boarding passes per bag and it printed out the luggage label then you drop it at the bag drop. In Edinburgh the girl did it for us as it was quiet. It was very easy.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 05/08/2019 13:45

How did you book your flight/holiday, did you not do that online?

I haven’t heard of anyone not doing online check in these days, I just thought it was the default and expected that you have already done it. I thought they charge to reprint boarding passes at the bag drop desks? Because it does hold the queue up, I guess. At the same time you do online check in you can put your passport numbers in. You either print off your boarding passes (I am old fashioned and like to have paper “tickets” in my hand in case there is an issue with my phone) or have the e-boarding pass on your phone. But they need to stick the baggage receipts to something and usually if you have a printed boarding pass they will stick them on there. The printed passes are also easier to use as a “bookmark” in the right photo bit of your passport.

So do online check in and print off your boarding passes before you go then you go to the jet 2 bag drop desks at the airport, then through security and then you’ll be airside. Easy!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 05/08/2019 13:58

No need to be stressed, OP, if you haven’t flown for many years the process is only slightly different, the only thing thst’s changed from pre-Internet days is that you will check in your party yourselves before you travel rather than the old way of taking paper tickets to the desks and having them exchange it for boarding cards. So when you check in online these days all you’re doing effectively is printing your own boarding cards before you get to the airport. So at the Jet2 desks at departures you will queue and at the desk they will want to see your printed boarding passes), either printed or on your phone , and passports of everyone. They weigh your baggage and take it off you and give you sticky receipts for them cases.

Then off to security. Just take your time there as it is an assault on the sense that’s for sure. So much going on, make sure you concentrate at what staff are saying to you, I am useless, it’s all quite fast!Grin

Just ask staff For help if you’re not sure what to do, they won’t mind helping out people who aren’t seasoned travelers.

JazzyGG · 18/08/2019 08:41

Jet2 charge you if you don't check in online, £15pp I think.
