Solo trip to Canada

Hi! I'm looking at booking a trip to Calgary (Banff) in Septemeber (long story short, relationship breakdown with holiday booked, I want to do something different instead of that holiday). I will be travelling on my own with an aim to go on a trail horse riding trip around Banff National Park with Unicorn trails.
I will most likely be staying in a hostel in Banff a day before and after the riding trip so I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for the solo female traveller in Bandff or just the best things to do in Banff when i have a day or two to kill!

It'll be the first time I'm travelling alone so I'm excited and a bit nervous!

Oh I didn't disturb them but I did wander a bit closer to take a photo not realising how dangerous they can be.

If you go to the hot springs, don’t leave any valuables in the lockers. Although there are locks, there is a lot of theft from the locker rooms.

Meet me for coffee?

Sunshine gondola closes 8 Sept btw. Not sure when the summer ROAM routes run until.

I know the Johnston Canyon route finishes September 16th. I’m not sure if Lake Louise runs all year round.

It was only one day a week earlier in the year... they are constantly expanding though...

I'm not planning on going to the hot springs so I'll be safe from that point!
I have a trip to lake louise so hopefully it'll be open still Grin

You can go to Lake Louise in Jan so I think you'll be ok! In my kitchen I have a photo of the kids at Lake Louise, one of them and me at Vermilion Lakes and two small retro ski posters that I bought in the shop at Chateau Lake Louise. I look at them every day and am VERY jealous of your fab trip! ( apart from the riding 😂😂)

Oh it’s open and heaving all year - I was just wondering if the public transport was running full time in September. It runs summer and winter, but not usually in the shoulder season. The place will still be rammed though - but with cars. You hadn’t said if you were hiring a car or using public transport. If you have a car you’re set. Just get there super early if larch season. They closed the entire access to LL from the highway last week due to congestion. (Some days the bus is the only way to get in).
A word about the weather - a few years we’ve had a foot of snow in the valley in the first week of September, so a reminder that it could be doing anything Smile
You will have a fabulous time though, whatever you are doing. Enjoy!

I'm on an organised coach trip which apparently can park quite close so should be ok! Ah yes I've got a list to pack for every eventuality of weather, it'll be a heavy bag Grin
