Singapore with nut allergy

Hi
My partner and I are going to Singapore soon. He has a nut allergy (all nuts), carries epi-pens. I used to live there but never needed to worry about where I ate.
I know sesame is used in a lot, but how worried do we need to be in places like Hawker centres for chicken rice etc for nuts?

Thanks

Ground nut oil is used for cooking. I know most speak English but if there's any language barrier I would carry cards with a translation explaining it. Make sure you tell your airline 48 hours in advance, they will stop nut distribution and ask people not to eat them if they brought their own.

Hi, thanks for that.
I know they use sesame oil a lot, didn't realise about ground nut oil.
We're flying with Emirates who've said they can't guarantee nut free meals, nor do they ask passengers not to consume any.
I think we're on for an uphill battle. Lots of McDonald's!

Peanuts are very common in gravies and garnishes in a lot of SE-Asian dishes.

It’s very easy to get western food in Singapore so you shouldn’t have trouble finding nut free foods you recognise. I would steer clear of Hawker Centre food as nuts are widely used so there’d be cross contamination issues and the language barrier plus widespread misconceptions about allergy makes them too risky

Thanks guys. You're all correct, I know deep down hawker centres aren't going to be possible, I just really wanted to introduce him to chicken rice lol.
