Where to go in October - warm, beach, culture

We're planning to go away for a week the first week of October.

For once we don't have any restrictions on where we go £ wise, so we want to treat ourselves.

We're not fussed about roasting hot weather, but would like it to be at least 24-ish degrees.

We were thinking maybe Mexico/Thailand/Carribean?

Where is good at the beginning of October? We love the beach, but would like to go somewhere with some culture and things to do also, but not somewhere too touristy.

We love Barcelona, Bruges, Portland Oregon, New Orleans.

Things we want: near a beach, museums, restaurants, architecture.

Any suggestions?

Malaga has a beach and will probably still be warm at that time of year. Loads of culture and Granada easily accessible by train.

Caribbean would still be too warm and wet at the beginning of October. It’s still officially hurricane season. Likely to be high 20s, low 30s. Same applies to Thailand. It’s going to be warmer than 24 and also wet season for most parts. Makes the humidity worse.

I would say Canary Islands, Morocco, Cape Verde, Cyprus...

Crete would still be warm then. Could tick all your boxes.

Couple of days in Athens followed by a couple of Greek islands. Fly into Athens and back from an island.

Cyprus.

Lamu, off the coast of Kenya - UNESCO world heritage site, stunning beaches, coral reefs, great food. Temperatures probably between the low 20s and 30, it doesn't get too hot and the houses are built for cool without air con which made a big difference as well. We didn't have to take anti-malarials or get any jabs, though we slept under mosquito nets just so we didn't get bitten at night, the sea breeze blows them away during the day.

San Sebastian? You're close to Bilbao for Guggenheim. Lots of delicious basque food too!

Should still be pretty warm at the beginning of October.
