Anyone been to Disney world Florida over Easter?

We're planning a Disney holiday next year. And due to the difference in flight prices are looking at Easter holidays (1 week school holiday- 1 week off school)
Anyway- anyone been this time of year? What was it like? Any advice?

Thanks

Easter is one of their peak visiting seasons and the weather then tends to be more pleasant in that it is not humid.

How old are the DC, I ask only as children 10 years of age and older are counted as adults at the theme parks so pay adult admission prices.

What you may find as well is that the flight prices will not vary by much even a week or two either side of the Easter holidays (the airlines cottoned onto the fact that schools break up at different times around the Easter break some years back).

Ticket price differential between kid and adult is about a tenner

Stay on site, get Disney free dining plus benefits like fast passes ?

Easter is a peak time to travel, so there are very few ‘good deals’.

We went in 2017 and, due to constraints set by my family who we were travelling with (and later had to cancel, but that’s another story), we ended up going for the two weeks of the Easter holidays. The flights were very expensive compared to other times of year. There was no ‘free dining’ available at Disney during the time and the them parks were extremely busy.

On the plus side, the weather was absolutely perfect. It was warm enough to spend all day outdoors but not too warm that energy levels were sapped. The evenings were cool enough to sleep and we only had one rain shower and one midnight thunderstorm during the stay. We did pay extra too have the heating on for the villa pool, which was definitely a good idea. It just wasn’t quite hot enough for an unseated pool - especially as we had some colder evenings.

Although we stayed in a villa we had one night in a Universal hotel so we could get the included ‘unlimited express’ passes for the Universal parks for the two days either side of our night’s stay. The hotel stay was a lot cheaper than buying the express passes themselves. The parks were very busy, so they were worth their weight in gold.

If you’re taking the children out of school, would you consider October half term? I have friends that have been then and at Easter and found October perfect in terms of weather and much quieter. I think the US schools have holidays around Easter but not October.

avalanching · 24/07/2019 10:30

Easter is one of the busiest times I think. If doing one week term time have you considered May or October? We chose May to get free dining and as the weather is a bit nicer (although I'm sure still good at Easter).

EmmaStone · 24/07/2019 14:07

We always go to Florida over the Easter holidays, sometimes going to Orlando, sometimes not. It's very busy, but the weather is perfect.

Earslaps · 24/07/2019 14:33

I agree with @avalanching that October is perfect. We went in October half term and the week after (inset days) and it was warm (28c most days) and the parks were not busy. We didn't queue for more than 30 minutes for anything.

Yes - went last Easter. Bear in mind you dont just have Easter but also Spring Break - which goes on for most of that period (different states have different weeks off) so it is indeed really busy. It was hot too but not as awfully humid as I understand it is over the summer.

We knew it would be busy so we did what we could to maximise our chances of having fun there - stayed in an onsite hotel, got free dining, made advance dining bookings for a couple of meals and religiously booked our fastpasses bang on the date we were allowed to (flight of passage is a key one to fast pass) and either went early to the park and then back to the pool (using early magic hours) or to a water park or took it easy and headed in later (to use later magic hours and watch fireworks). Queues were big for most things but fast pass queues moved quickly. The Dibb is great for tips - and telling you when parks are projected to be heaving (as there are 7 disney parks they all have different peak days) - and we bought a couple of guidebooks with busy day planners which were a huge help. The app is really good too.

We spent 6 days at Disney and 2 at Universal.

easter is a peak period, but if you’re there for 2 weeks then one of your weeks will be quieter. Look at crowd calendars, busy day guides and which parks have extra magic hours. Get to parks for when they open and have a plan to maximise the first few hours,

If you’re going to universal, consider staying in one of the higher end hotels for early park access and free universal express passes.

rookiemere · 27/07/2019 17:00

We went at Easter and found that by keeping a bit on UK time and getting up and at the parks for opening time we were able to do everything we wanted by mid morning and could spend the afternoons relaxing by the pool.

babyyoucanwarmmyhouse · 27/07/2019 17:15

Wow thanks for all the useless info everyone.
Unfortunately it was Easter or summer as stepsons birthday is may half term and his mum wouldn't want us to take him over his birthday (understandably) and October is a friends wedding.

We've booked our flights and we're staying in a villa. So no Disney magic hours or dining for us Sad. Last time we went we took picnic with us each day which worked well.
I'll definitely look up these crowd calendars and use our fast passes meticulously.
I think our plan is one day park one day rest/water park afternoon.

Bit harsh! Shock

Have been to Florida at Easter and weather is lovely but it coincides with the American spring break so is super busy, with lots of College kids. October is also great weather wise but busy because of Halloween.

To be honest I think Disney is always busy
