Just as it says really, hoping some experienced Barcelona tourists can point me in the right direction!
Going end of September/early October, got an apartment as thought that would be more baby friendly vs a hotel.
What have people got up to with a baby in tow, I want to manage my expectations!
Is it possible to use the hop on, hop off bus with a fold away stroller? Don’t know if il manage carrying her around in the sling all day
Any advice appreciated 😁

The biggest challenge in travelling to Barcelona in the summer will be navigating the city when the crowds are peak! One place that we found particularly difficult in both the carrier and the pushchair was the market (la bocqueria). The queues, tight alleyways and crowds meant this was not a pleasant experience for parent or child with the pushchair or carrier!
Also, you’re keen to go into some of the smaller tapas bars then a pushchair would be a hassle.
Id recommend a carrier to visit Parc Guell. There were some pathways that lead further up the hill that we couldn’t easily access with the pushchair as the paths were dirt and had occasional stairs. To get from one area to another, the direct route usually involved a set of stairs, so we often had to take a long pathway around or carry it. Once at the bottom of the park, we took turns watching DS, while the other went to look at some of the more famous and very crowded monuments.
It wasn’t always a pain to use the pushchair and I’m glad we had it. Although there are cobbled roads in the city, they tend to be bordered by pavements, so it’s easy to avoid the cobbles.
Another benefit of having a pushchair is that it’s easy to shield the baby from the sun, which can be a bit trickier with a carrier. And in the evenings when we went out for dinner, DS slept in the pushchair, leaving us free to enjoy the meal without him strapped to us.
One thing we used a lot while getting around in Barcelona was using the hop on and hop off bus. Although when crowded you had to fold the pushchair down, it was a great way to get around the city and get to all the major sites without hassle.
The waterfront has a wonderful paved pathway which runs behind the beach parallel to the sea. They will love playing in the sand and depending on the size of the waves, they may also enjoy playing with you in the water.
I’d also recommend the aquarium which our DS loved. We will never forget the look of fascination on his face as he saw the very first fish tank up close. Logistically the aquarium was very pushchair friendly.
