Greek islands

I'm looking to go to one of the Greek islands next may, will the weather be warm then? Also any suggestions which one to visit, we like like laid back chilled out old towns, would like to be in walking distance of nice bars etc. We are early 40's with no kids.

Toured a few last October so can’t comment on May weather but all the ones within ferry distance of Athens were nice. Hydra in particular as there are no cars

May in Greece is perfect.
I always go in April/ May or September/ October .
Crete is beautiful, and the southernmost island, so guaranteed the warmest weather. Hania( sometimes written Chania ) is one of the most lovely small cities , it has endless beautiful alley ways of ancient balconies and beautiful doorways leading to sunny courtyards, you can start at the beautiful harbour and wander for literally hours before you get to dull modern buildings. Lots of history, a good museum and some ancient sites.
Bars and restaurants aplenty.
The North coast has lovely typically Mediterranean beaches , the south coast is a totally different vibe, with surf and shanty bars behind the beach, it’s a bit like Kerala or Goa. The centre of the island is a high plateau of farmland, and there is an amazing gorge with waterfalls that you can walk along.
I love other Greek islands too, but Crete has so much going for it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm looking into Crete as it sounds perfect, can't wait!
