Please tell me there are nice ‘coupley’ resorts there? ! I just think of Santa Ponsa and Magalluf and I’m way past all that. He’s younger than me and has only been on stag dos in the past abroad. I want a decent hotel in a decent resort with some nice bars/restaurants and beach walks. Oh wise ones, guide me on what resorts I should be looking into Gin

I wouldn't go to Puerto Pollensa or Puerto Soller if you want cheap and cheerful, both are quite expensive for eating out.

I agree that the weather can be unpredictable at that time of year. There is a fairly reliable period of stormy/less than lovely weather that goes through the Med somewhere between late September and early October each year so it's hit and miss whether you get it. We went to Cala D'Or in early October a couple of years ago and I think it was hot and sunny all week except a cloudy day and one early evening storm.

Despite the longer flight, it's often similar price and much more reliable weather to go to the Canaries, where it's significantly cheaper to eat out.

Somewhere like Playa Blanca in Lanzarote would suit you perfectly. Or Malta and/or Gozo. Not quite as picturesque as the nice parts of Mallorca, but more likely to be good weather, good value for eating out, interesting historical sites, good for boat trips, Gozo and Comino attractive and plenty to do.

Or if you're set on Mallorca, I'd look at Cala D'Or, Palma city or Paguera, which is a lovely small resort just further round the coast from Santa Ponsa. 3 lovely beaches, pedestrianised in the main town, lots of restaurants with Spanish food, but also German, as about 90% of the tourists who go there are German.

The weather in the Balearics in October is very changeable. You would be better in Southern Spain where it is usually pool weather in October and we have had some good pool days in November too. Have you looked at Tarifa or the Cadiz area?

Majorca can be unpredictable in October, two of my colleagues own flats there and normally don’t do a main or longer holiday later than .September.

If you want heat and a pool then you need to look at the Canaries which will have around high twenties with a chance of rain, we had a downpour last year on Lanzarote but all other days were lovely and really warm.

Greece - you need to go really south, Crete or Rhodes. Cyprus may be another option.

How about Morocco?

Look at Southern Spain, weather will much better in October as it's further south. There are some lovely places not far from Malaga (eg Estepona, Nerja) and Malaga itself is lovely too.

Goodness i never expected so many helpful replies, thank you all so much! Im actually on holidays now (somewhere lovely but alas not cheap and not with lovely bf lol) and I'm heading out now but I'm going to carefully consider all your replies later and do some more research. Im beginning to think further south is a better idea for guaranteed heat.

I really do appreciate all responses Grin

I've had lovely holidays in Palms in October including a couple of days at the beach ( we got a taxi). It's a good mix of stuff to do.
