Help! Passport advice urgently needed - I think DS may not be able to come on holiday with us

Ds is 15 and his passport runs out in Oct. We are flying out on Sat and I've just found out that passports need to have at least 6 months to expiry to be admitted to the country (Thailand). The rest of the family passports are fine.

I'm panicking now as I am worried they will refuse us entry to the country because of DS' passport.

Please can anyone advise? Has anyone been in a similar situation? What can I do??

Also, when is his birthday? If he's close to turning 16 he may be eligible for an adult passport.

I renewed mine in Wales in February and we all had to go.

@Livelaughloveyuk I wonder why that was then? I’m just thankful I got it sorted and I’ll not let any of our passports run out in the future - quite a stressful few days in our house!

@ETgo - I needed a child's fast track passport and they insisted due to child abduction that I returned the next day with the whole family. Annoying but very grateful!

@RoseJam how did you get on today? Are the passport office able to sort in time fyyou?

Thailand are exceptionally picky about passports. There have been a large number of Australian tourists refused at entry over passport issues. Eg they boarded the plane, they landed, and got refused entry at customs.
Get a new passport ASAP

I would expect the airline to let you board without the 6 months as they’d be responsible for return flight if denied entry.
