Any cruise experts?

We recently did a med cruise on royal Caribbean. Loved it and want to book again. The only thing that stuck in my throat was the price we paid v what the US market pays.

Have you ever used a US agent to book on your behalf. Is it straightforward and are there any restrictions or recommendations? Thanks.

We would like to do royal Caribbean again but this time Canada and New England next October.

Used to work for Royal Caribbean. We were asked this a lot. Unfortunately, the terms and conditions of many prices are such that they are only valid for customers who live in a particular country or continent. It’s justified by the fact that it’s very difficult over here on the US to sell Med cruises as the flights to get there are so expensive. So as an incentive the cruises are offered cheaper but the flight prices are obviously much higher. It can easily be over $2000 pp to fly to Europe in June or July from here. And it works the other way too. We have booked a Hawaii cruise for next year. We booked our cabin through the US website as we live in the US. I asked an old colleague of mine back in the UK what she could see for the same cabin grade, same dates, etc and the price was much cheaper. I was tempted to cancel and rebook (it would have even been worth losing the deposit) but wondered what would happen when we check in at the cruise port to get on the ship and they see we have booked a “for residents of the UK only” rate and we have American passport (DH) and a green card (me) as our IDs. Not worth the risk.
