Hi
Anyone been to Lisbon with a toddler and have any tips?

What's the best way to get around - metro?

Thanks in advance!

The metro is clean, quick, and efficient. announcements are made only in Portuguese, but signs and ticketing machines are generally bilingual in Portuguese and English. Under 5s are free.
Hop on hop off bus tours are another great option to explore the city. You can buy a one two or three day pass.
Try to go without a pushchair. The city is stacked on steep hills and many of the streets are cobbled, steep and windy.
Child menus and baby food in restaurants and cafes are rare but most restaurants will nearly all serve half-portions (meia dose). Note, however, that restaurants rarely open much before 7.30pm (so British and Irish children may need to adjust to eating later than they are used to) and local children are often still up at midnight.
Many of the traditional Portuguese restaurants in Lisbon provide cheese, bread, olives and other snacks as soon as customers sit down at their table. It’s worth noting, they are not complimentary, however they are still put on your table without ordering them. It racks up around an extra €10 on the bill, they can be politely declined.
Lisbon Oceanarium is considered as one of the best aquariums in Europe and is a place that will simply enthral children. Families tend to spend 2-3 hours in the Oceanarium, but the only downside is the relatively high-ticket price. It’s best avoided at the weekends when it can get very busy during the summer months. It’s best to buy tickets online before arriving.
Lisbon zoo is modern with excellent facilities and well cared for animals. The stand out attraction is the large water pool which has dolphin and sea lion shows. Other areas include the reptile and snake house, aviaries that can be walked through. There is a petting farm for younger children. The zoo is a day-long activity. The amusement park side of the zoo, called Animax, lies outside of the main zoo so visitors can enter without buying a zoo ticket.
Children love to ride on the classic trams. The tram can get very busy during the day so travel either early in the day or in the evening. A tram ticket costs €3.00 for a single ride, but a better option is the 24-hour unlimited tram/bus/metro, which costs €6.40, and includes all of the funiculars and the Elevador de Santa Justa Lift.
The Parque das Nações district has numerous children-friendly activities including a cable car that runs the length of the park and interactive outdoor features. Also, in Parque das Nações is the Oceanarium and the Pavilion of Knowledge. The Pavilion of Knowledge is an interactive science/technology museum which is good value and has many interactive exhibits.
