Swimwear in France?

I’ve just seen a news story about French swimming pools banning burkinis and I was wondering what the attitude to modest swimwear is at swimming lakes? I wear long legged and long sleeved swimwear as I feel more comfortable in it and to protect me from the sun.

Am I likely to find issue with this at a public swimming lake? (DD 5 will also be fully covered as she wears a wetsuit as she feels the cold)

Surely they can't ban wetsuits. Thats not religious attire, it's to stop hypothermia in a cold lake. I'd wear a full length wetsuit.

In public pools you can't wear long sleeved long legged swimwear and often you have to wear swimming caps. Boys/men cannot wear swimming shorts. I don't know about swimming lakes but if it's municipal it's likely to have these types of rules. You should go online to check the rules if there's a particular lake you're going to.
You can get material swimming caps at Decathlon or go sports which are more comfy than the rubber ones.

If it’s municipal they often have speedos only rules for the chaps at pools so I doubt wetsuits will be ok. A lake might be different though, best check on line if you can. It’s apparently to do with hygiene, the idea being that a super skimpy banana hammock won’t be something you’ll walk around the streets in so it’ll be clean for the pool. Only in France!

If you’re happy to share where you’re going someone might have been there and could perhaps advise on the wetsuit?
