Flybe - can a rucksack count as a 'handbag'?

I have a small wheeled case that just fits into the 'carry on' spec, so I'm taking that, but the Flybe website says you can take another small piece of carry on such as a handbag or laptop. Well that's a bit vague - I mean my brother's laptop is the size of a small country, and some handbags you could get inside and settle down for a nap! Officially my rucksack isn't a handbag, but could it be classed as one? I'll ring Flybe and check tomorrow but just thought I'd ask in case anyone had been in this situ. The rucksack is 'standard' size, like college students use.

Personal item size restriction is shown as 25cmx33cmx20cm here, it's from last year but I don't think it's changed: s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/sendmybag/media/cms/blogFlyBe.jpg

Oh fab, thank you! I don't know how I missed that! Because I'm in a flap I expect...

I only have the standard ticket with 23kg hold luggage. What's the deal with 'upgrading' to 46kg? I'm very confused! I've not flown as an adult before so this is all very new to me.

Hope you've not gone yet. If you have paid for hold luggage then there is no restrictions on case size. 23kg is loads - you'll struggle to carry that so you don't need 46kg unless you're moving for good.

If you have a hold bag, then all you need on the plane is a small rucksack or handbag for personal possessions. You might also be allowed to bring a case within their cabin dimensions, but if you have a hold bag, not sure you'd need it.

How many people are travelling and how long are you going for?

Unless you are emigrating or taking sporting equipment, I can't see how you'd need more than one 23 kg suitcase plus cabin case plus rucksack.

I take scuba diving equipment abroad and usually end up with a 20-23 kg hold case plus a wheelie cabin case. If you're just taking 'normal' luggage you really don't need any extra than what you already have.
