Long weekend in Amsterdam - any specific recommendations?

We've been before, but a long time ago. Guide book is almost 20 years old, so not exactly topical!

DS2 has recommended Lucius restaurant, and I want to go to the Van Gogh museum - but anything else you'd recommend?

Weather forecast for the first day is cloudy/showery, but the other days won't be rainy.

Just DH and I - no DC to worry about!

TIA

Just to be clear - am absolutely not interested in the red light district, nor consuming any mind-altering substances other than alcohol Grin

@BIWI, I just mentioned it as it is one of the most popular tourist spots in Amsterdam.
I am happy to hear that you won’t go there, though it’s a historic area, the explotation of women that is going on there is just awful.

I know. A key reason why we're not interested!

We're heading over for a long weekend soon, too. I plan to go on a walking tour and to the cat museum!

Van Gogh works with a timed ticket so make sure you get your timing right. Nearby the the Vondel Park, nice to stroll and sit.

Anne Frank House - tickets are available online only.

Rembrandt House is very interesting and not that busy

Be careful, lots is closed Monday mornings, check opening times

The zoo is lovely and next to it is Micropia, a museum/science show with everything you ever wanted to know about germs/microbes/cells. I think it was one of the highlights we did.

The Dutch Resistance Museum is great, with all museums, all displays are in English as well and you get really good audioguides. We spent around 2 hours there. You also have the Holocaust Museum but we didn't mange it.

We went to the

OP, the Tropenmuseum (museum of the Tropics) is a less well known tourist attraction but it’s such a wonderful place (actually my favourite spot in Amsterdam). If you have children of any age, are interested in other cultures and customs and are interested in architecture (I added a photo of the hallway inside) it’s a great place to visit and quite close to the center. It has also exhibitions such as about fashion in Africa, evil in cultures around the world, tattoos and other body arts in cultures around the world, etc. Highly recommended.

@NotJustACigar definitely do the zoo! And Plantage restaurant (right in/next to the zoo) is lovely.

Second the dutch resistance museum, we went because we had the Amsterdam card but it ended up being one of our highlights!

D&A hummus bistro is amazing! We went twice. Also second Church of our Lord in the Attic. There is a book market at Spui, on Fridays I think, so a bit late for you but maybe useful for the other poster.

I didn't love the cat boat, I'm going to be honest.
