Thomas land - worth a trip?

Have a day off next week so thinking about taking DS

He’s 2.5 abd goes to sleep cuddling a brio scale Thomas every night. Is it worth the 6 hour round trip?

Is it likely to be busy even in term time?

My dd went at a similar age and loved it we have visited several times over the years my dd is now 12 and ds 8. We have never done it as a day trip we have always stayed in a premier inn near.

How tall is he?
We went a month ago with our son who is 3.5 and he loved it, but was tall enough for all the rides. There's details on the website of what the cut offs are I think. We stayed over (one night in the really expensive hotel on site in a "Thomas" themed room, and one night in the cheaper premier inn down the road!).

It wasn't too busy when we went and fun was had by all! I might be inclined to wait until he's slightly bigger, but take a look at the website.

He’s 2.5 and 93cm

He’s a big theme park fan so he will enjoy I think as long as he can go on things.

Looks like some great adult coasters there but no good with the little one.

Only have one day off so can’t stay overnight

Thomasland is brilliant for toddlers. Drayton Manor has animals and a soft play as well as the Thomas bit. We've done the stay and play for both our sons birthdays in the themed room, it was great. I'm not sure if I'd do a 6 hour round trip tbh, just because it's a tiring day in itself. I'd recommend waiting until you have a bit more time and make a weekend of it, your DS will love it.

Yes, I wouldn't do 6 hours travel plus the park in a day, you wouldn't get your moneys worth!

If there’s just the two of you going, one day will be enough if you make the most of your time there. He’ll be able to go on most rides in Thomas Land (although you’ll need to accompany him on some) and there’s lots to do other than just rides.
Aim to enter the park when it opens at 9.30am. The park claims that the rides don’t open until 10.30am, but we’ve often seen Thomas Land open earlier than this – with no queues for the most popular rides. Even if this isn’t the case, the zoo is open, so you can have a quick look around before getting into line for some of the popular rides.
The most popular rides can build up large queues from mid-morning onwards. Don’t despair, though – the queues start to die down towards the end of the day, and you can spend the busy afternoon period riding higher-capacity rides such as Pirate Adventure or taking a look around the zoo. If you decide to leave the Thomas attraction until later to avoid the queues, Thomas' friend Spencer has his very own activity park which is located in the Zoo next to Farmer McColls Farm. You can get to this by walking through the zoo or by riding on Thomas or Percy from Thomas Land.
Take your pushchair with you.Thomas Land is in two areas – a five-minute walk apart. You won’t need it in the main area as the rides are close together, so ditch it in the buggy park outside Emily’s Adventure Play. But, it is useful for exploring the other area, which is more spread out. It just means you won’t be reliant on catching the train that links the two sections.
A fact that is often overlooked by many visitors is that the stated closing time for each ride actually refers to its queue. So if a ride is due to close at 18.00, you can still join the queue at 17.59.
Next to Terence’s Driving School is the Discover Thomas Exhibition which has the original set from the Thomas and Friends TV series.
The 4D cinema is well worth a visit, with regular mini movies on every half an hour or so, which is great for fidgety little ones and gives you a chance to put your feet up for a minute too.
Take a picnic, as there's benches around the lake and another spot where you can grab a bite to eat and save some pennies. If it’s raining there are a couple of under-cover picnic areas but they are hard to find - one area is behind the pizza place, at the entrance of the zoo, turn slightly right and there are grass topped parasols with picnic tables under; the other place is behind the entrance to the Shockwave ride, behind the Chicken Diner.
