The price of summer holidays!

I've been researching holidays for ages and am looking ahead to summer 2020. We're restricted to school holidays and I just can't get over the prices. Entirely a first world problem I realise.

I thought the likes of Eurocamp / Al Fresco etc would be budget holidays but a fortnight in the most basic accommodation at a great site like Union Lido is over £3k, then you've obviously got flights and food on top of that. Surely AI would be better value.

Anyone got any advice about a nice holiday, plenty for the DCs to do (10 & 7) and not too crowded? Going round in circles trying to decide what to do. The reason I'm thinking about it now is that most of the caravan holiday companies release their best prices for next year about now.

have a look [[https://www.venueholidays.com/uk/tuscany/camping_norcenni_girasole_club here], which is located in italy. it has a lazy river, water slides, a pool, tennis courts, trampolines and a park on site. it is near florence, which would be a nice day trip. all the best x

Look on jet 2 Terra Natura in Benidorm

GorkyMcPorky · 13/06/2019 22:39

Thanks. Never heard of Terra Natura. It looks great but £6.5k! Norcenni is more affordable. Will look up flights.

Yes duinrell in the Netherlands. Book direct and get the best accommodation you can. There is a theme park and water park onsite, included in priceplus beaches, Amsterdam, the Hague, Delft etc.
Last summer holidays we paid £1000 for a family of 4 plus £300 ferry.

Centre parcs in Europe? We have paid around 500 euros for four nights last week of August. We are then adding on another three nights at efteling. Tesco vouchers cover the tunnel.

Bolero hotels for Union lido near venice... Will need to reserve now

lovelyupnorth · 16/06/2019 18:05

Plenty of choice just need to put it together yourself

We’ve done two weeks in Spain south of Alicante £1200 for two weeks villa with shared pool and flights. End of August flying from Scotland included car hire

Sweden £1200 two weeks selfcatering villa with pool flying stn-cph hired a car again last two weeks in August the Swedish schools had gone back second week.

Centre parks in the Netherlands or villa in France with a pool for less than £2k.

This year doing two weeks in Canada for under £5k

All 2 adults and two teans. Including car hire, accommodation and flights. Not food.

WisestIsShe · 23/06/2019 19:45

@lovelyupnorth your Canada trip sounds interesting! Would you be willing to share more details? We'd love to go but I've no idea where to start.

GorkyMcPorky · 23/06/2019 21:53

Thanks for these. Going for a less pricey but lovely site in the Vendée. Italy will have to wait another couple of years.

There's a French company called Pierre vacances which I've found good prices, you obviously have to add ferries and petrol. Otherwise just book independently, I've found for this August flights to Italy for £69 each (return) and hotel is £490 b&b for the week, Sleeps 4
