Anyone been? What was it like? Were wanting to go to DLP but working out too expensive and don't want to spend hours in queues.

So found Duinrell while looking for indoor waterparks as my kids mourn very easily in the sun. And the theme park looks great.

It's fab..we are going this October half term for the 4th time.

Theme park is free and is a good size with a mix of rides. Water park is great.. free if booking direct with Duinrell or 5 euros if staying Eurocamp etc.

What I love is it's just a few minutes walk from the beautiful Dutch village Wassenaar, lovely restaurants.

Can hire bikes and cycle to the beach.

Highly recommended 😊

Duinrell isn’t Alton Towers. It is a lot smaller, and there aren’t as many rides as some of the larger theme parks in the UK, but there also aren’t the queues either. Spending time at the theme park was relaxing – and I don’t think I’ve ever felt relaxed taking my toddler round a UK theme park before.
There is a good mix of roller coasters for older children through to bumper boats, train rides and trampolines for toddlers. There is a ball pool and indoor soft play in case it rains, and all of the attractions are surrounded by large oak trees which give the whole park a real woodland feel.
We stayed in one of their Esprit holiday homes. This had 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and suited our needs perfectly. Outside there was a large decking area with dining table and a couple of sunbeds. It was quiet, and we had our own parking space just outside our holiday home. Most importantly, it was centrally located and the theme park, Tikibad and supermarket were less than a 5 minutes walk. I had prebooked bedding and a welcome pack.
We booked our ferry travel through Eurocamp, and it was considerably cheaper than booking it direct with the ferry operator. Booking it via Eurocamp also meant the cost of the ferry was added to the holiday price so we only had to pay the balance 8 weeks before departure.
Eurocamp check in is 3pm but we arrived at Duinrell at 10am. You can use the facilities of the park until your holiday home is ready.
The theme park is 5 minutes walk from most of the holiday homes and you don’t need to show a pass to get in – you just come and go as you please.
It’s a perfect option for younger toddlers who might not be able to hack a full day at a theme park in one go. You can visit the park for a few hours, pop back to your holiday home for a nap or lunch, and then go back in the afternoon to go on a few more rides.
One of the best places to get pancakes near Duinrell is at the Pannenkoeken Huis just outside the park entrance. This pancake house serves a mixture of sweet and savoury pancakes and was the place we headed to for brunch just after we arrived at Duinrell. Kids pancakes cost about 4 Euros and adults pancakes range from 8 – 11 Euros depending on which toppings you have.
The best ice creams can be found at Luciano's in Waasenaar. This ice cream parlour serves some of the best ice creams in The Netherlands, and is just a 5 minute walk from Duinrell.

It's brilliant, we went last August, no queues in the theme park. Water park is excellent. We stayed a week also visited Amsterdam, Leiden, Hague, beaches, hired bikes etc. Book accommodation direct with Duinrell.
It's not 'fancy' like dlp it's more rustic. Lots of fun.

Great for little kids. Water park is limited entrance though and can get rammed. Also worth checking out the Dutch centerparcs and Landal parks. Europapark in Germany is also meant to be excellent if it the theme park vibe you are after.

To give an idea of price we paid £1k fir a family of 4 in school hols for a premium duingalow Inc water park for 3 hours per day and theme park. Ferry was £300 with cabin.

Op I'm looking into this place next Easter however I will without a doubt combine it with a theme park we as a family adore. Efteling.

It's about an hour away.

It's amazing theme park with lovely, charming on site accmd. Look at bosrijk!

I'm considering duinerrll this time to mix it up, the Water aspect looks good... and general feel of the place.

I'll do 4 nights d. 3 night's efteling.

We wanted too do dlp for year's and couldn't afford it. Thanks to Mumsnet found efteling! Cheaper and now... since having had annual pass for Disney my DC love Disney but far far prefer efteling!

Sorry off topic but do look into it. It's so close.

Paddy1234 · 10/06/2019 20:27

We are going for our tenth year! The children absolutely love it. Went to centre parcs this year and they found it a bit 'meh'

Burpsandrustles · 10/06/2019 20:27

There's Waldo, we recently did Europa park and it's Def worth visit... amazing theming based on countries.... hotels amazing.

But.... Just lacks the atmosphere and magic of efteling and the buzz and glitz of Disney.

Paddy1234 · 10/06/2019 20:32

Ps we have always booked direct with Duinrell as the accommodation. Is better situated and bigger than eurocamp - it's cheaper as well

noenergy · 10/06/2019 21:47

I'm still not convinced, the main reason I was looking at it was the indoor slide pool looked great. The surroundings of the theme park seem a bit dull, definitely not like the glitz of Disney.

Those who have gone back, what age r your kids? My kids enjoy a good thrilling ride especially my 9 year old.

There is a great mix of rides, been with 10 and 11 yo adrenaline seekers and they were kept happy with dragonfly, falcon and some scary spinny ones that I wouldn’t have gone on if you’d paid me!

It’s not like Disney, much less sense of occasion - but it’s like having a big theme park in your back garden, that you can spend the day in when you first arrive, and then later in the holiday dash into when you’ve been at the beach for the day and do your favourite rides three times in a row because there are no queues.

Burpsandrustles · 11/06/2019 07:57

Efteling has python, George and dragon, the baron if tall enough, and flying Dutchman as good ride's.
