Cape Cod

Hi!

So we're flying out to Boston in August for a wedding and we're hoping to spend a few days after the wedding in a nice resort.

Originally the plan was to fly out to Florida, however after asking MNetters on a previous thread, they suggested staying close to Boston, Cape Cod area.

I'm finding it hard to find somewhere where we and the kids could unwind and be kept entertained for 4-5 days.

Ideally a resort with pools and entertainment during the night etc.

Has anyone been to Cape Cod who could recommend somewhere to stay?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Thank you!

Thanks @Ricekrispie22

I've had a look. Was hoping for somewhere a little more lively maybe.

Somewhere close to shops and restaurants...

We love Chatham. It's a gorgeous town, very much 'old' ( posh) America. Lots going on in the town in the summer, super restaurants and great beaches, baseball matches, sailing etc. I've never stayed at a resort there. We have stayed at White Pond, with private lake beaches, or have rented a house in town. Don't miss the lagoon at Cockle Cove. There's so much to do on Cape Cod, both nature and history, it's not the sort of place you'd want to stay around the hotel.

@BoogleMcGroogle

Thank you, lots of great suggestions!

Do you think Cape Cod would be doable without a car?

Neither of us drive so that's why we thought maybe a resort would be a better idea

Chatham would be doable, but you might want to think about staying in Hyannis instead. You can catch the Cape Flyer train out of Boston and could stay in the town. Alternatively, Provincetown is bigger with easily accessible beaches an lots to do ( whale watching, dune safari). It's You could perhaps fly there from Boston?

You can get a ferry from Boston to Provincetown. It takes about an hour and a half. Provincetown is full of lovely little shops, galleries, bars and restaurants. It’s not full of resort hotels with pools and entertainment, but I think there are some. There is a lot of entertainment but it is often aligned with Provincetown’s reputation as the gay capital of New England. It is very lively in summer and has a great atmosphere, we’ve been a couple of times with teenagers and they love it. There are regular buses on the Cape that you could use to get around.

Provincetown, as a very gay friendly town, is also a popular spot for same-sex parents to take their kids for the summer holidays, so there are lots of children's activities on. I've only visited a couple of times but I agree it would be a good spot for a car free holiday. My kids always enjoy visiting and we've always found lots to do.
