We are considering a family holiday with teens to Nice next summer to combine coast / culture, does anyone have any info please?

I have recently returned from a weekend in Nice with a friend and would definitely recommend it and am thinking of it as a family destination for next year. There are museums/cultural sites and it's so easy to get around. We got a bus to Monaco for 1.50 euros, and there are train and tram rides to other destinations/ beaches. I think it has something for everyone. Prices weren't too bad and the people were friendly. Can't recommend a hotel as ours didn't have family rooms but I loved the place. It feels big but compact enough to get around by foot. I will definitely return with my family.

The airport is absolutely horrendous though 😩

It's a great family destination & attracts a lot of younger as well as older tourists so your kids should like it! Are you going to stay in a hotel? The hotels with pools in the centre of Nice are very expensive FYI - when we went we hired an apartment about 15 minutes from the train station & swam at Villefranche which has a gentler beach for swimming than Nice. The old town is picturesque with loads of cafe's & bars & there are a good number of museums (would help if the DD like art!). It's on a train line that connects numerous towns such as Monaco & Cannes - most journeys go along the coast & are very pretty, particularly if you sit on the top deck of the double decker trains! It's a bit cheaper to book your trains in advance on SNCF & if you plan to use the trains, go earlier in the day & get to the platform early as the trains get busy. I don't remember the airport being that bad but I've been to some horrors so it may be relative!

Give your teens rollerblades for Christmas, so they can get practicing before you go, and make sure you take them with you. It’s amazing roller blading along the promenade. You can go for miles, even out past the airport.
