I know it's been done before, but I'm trying to get organised for our Eurocamp holiday in Southern France next month... What are your must pack items? We're driving so plenty of room!

Your own knives. Otherwise I take ketchup, tea bags, salt & pepper, mixed herbs and a cafetière. Oh and matches, shopping bags,

spinn · 30/05/2019 20:02

Wine glasses - the ones they give you are rubbish

orangeshoebox · 30/05/2019 20:04

table tennis balls

otherwise - the supermarkets in france are fabulous, no need to bring anything.
just live on baguettes, croissants, fresh grapes and tomatos.

orangeshoebox · 30/05/2019 20:05

tight swimming trunks for the gents

movehimintothesun · 30/05/2019 20:10

Proper sized mugs for a brew in the morning, the ones you tend to get supplied are small cups, nowhere near enough tea for me!

Digestive28 · 30/05/2019 20:11

Depending how long you are there for take a washing tablet as can use machines on site and you don’t want to buy a whole box.

madamy · 30/05/2019 20:13

Boring stuff - pegs, sandwich bags, foil, one of those cheap gel air fresheners for the loo!

WrongKindOfFace · 30/05/2019 20:13

A chopping board as they always give you a rubbish glass one that wobbles. (The thin ones from ikea are ideal.)

A sharp knife.

A travel bottle set filled with washing up liquid, kitchen cleaning spray and hand soap. Or almost empty full size bottles. A pan scrubber, a cloth, and a kitchen roll. Tea towels. A couple of bin bags.

A couple of washing machine tablets/pods.

A pinch of herbs/spices if you plan on cooking.

Extra pillows and pillow cases.

Clothes pegs.

A multi gang extension lead.

madamy · 30/05/2019 20:14

I know I can buy my list at Carrefour etc but I'd rather fill my trolley there with yummy food and drink!

RemoveAllPicturesOfRon · 30/05/2019 20:14

Tea towel! Even if you get their welcome pack thing the tea towel is about the size of a hanky!

mrswarthog · 30/05/2019 20:16

Foil, clingfilm, tea bags, uht milk for first day, own knives, Salt&Pepper, one kitchen and toilet roll, at least one pint glass as you never get big enough glasses, tampons if you use / will need them because they're ridiculously expensive (like €6 - €8 for 16). I usually take handwash & a mixed use cleaning spray too. But French supermarkets are amazing so just get it there (but take bags - I pack everyone's stuff into bags for life then use them for shopping when we're there).

WrongKindOfFace · 30/05/2019 20:17

Oh and a bath mat. I don’t think they’re included in the linen pack.

WrongKindOfFace · 30/05/2019 20:19

Ideally save almost finished things here to take so you don’t have to bring it all back again.

I hate buying things on holiday to have to dump them hardly used - so wasteful.

Butterymuffin · 30/05/2019 20:50

Several supermarket bags for life - useful not only for shopping but for shoving wet towels and swimsuits in going back and forth from the pool.

Also several UK/Europe plug adaptors so everyone can charge their many devices at once and not have to argue about whose phone needs are greater.

Hand soap / wash for the

Salt, pepper, ketchup and small / mostly used bottle of oil.

AuntieMaggie · 01/06/2019 20:18

Brilliant suggestions - thank you!

I also hate waste so good to think of what to take from home and I find the French supermarkets can be expensive.

Antibacterial wipes very useful

victorianphobia · 16/06/2019 20:08

several UK/Europe plug adaptors

or we take a 4 plug extension leads then you only need one travel adaptor and can plug in 4 phones etc. Also we leave it in the main room which stops the 'no phones in bed' row.
