Whereabouts is St. Paul's? I live in Paris and can't work out where this is exactly!

Catacombs good but go in the evening during the week. If there at the weekends or weekdays during the day you can queue for hours. It's good though.

If your daughter is under 26 and holds an EU passport most museums etc are free.

I wouldn't bother with Versailles or anywhere too far like Disneyland/Giverny for Monet's house if only here two days.

I love the Latin quarter and recommend you visit the jardin de Luxembourg and the Pantheon. Both slightly off the beaten tourist track and beautiful. Loads of history in the pantheon that has appealed to all my friends when they visited (and their interests are varied!)

I think montmartre is over rated but some like it. I think tour Montparnasse is too expensive for what it is too. Le marais is lovely. Place des Vosges is nice for picnics etc. Restaurants wise I have several allergies so have to be really picky; sorry I can't help more!

Climbing the Arc de Triomphe at sunset is a favourite. Takes 5 mins to actually climb (take water, they don't sell any at the top!) although there's usually a 15-20 min queue so time it well. All my guests love this.

Do you mean St Paul metro station? It's on Line 1 in the Marais, next to Bastille. Close to the river to walk over to the islands. Lots of restaurants in Bastille, try rue de la Roquette and rue de Lappe. Great location! Pompidou centre very close too plus more unusual museums like Musee Carnavalet (history of Paris) and the Picasso museum. Place des Voges is lovely and has Victor Hugo museum.

Yes bad the metro station. Thanks will have a look at your suggestions.

You can book catacomb tickets online. No queuing then!

pearldeodorant · 20/05/2019 19:46

Pricey option that @itstrue but yes good point! Forgot that!

We did a cooking class with this company and enjoyed it so much that we went back again for one of the baking classes (we made macarons and croissants). Classes generally last a couple of hours and are in English. They also do food tours.

La Promenade Plantee is a beautiful elevated park built along old train tracks. It goes on for 3 miles from Bastille to Bois de Vincennes.

Thank you Rice, good idea, will have a look. We are going to see the hugh jackman greatest showman and are looking forward to it.

Catacombs skip the line is pricey but we have just been - it was a cold rainy day and the line was huge. It is worth the extra. I debated for ages and I'm glad we paid.

Starisnotanumber · 21/05/2019 18:50

Try bistro 217 AVE daunsmil change at Bastille then pink line. Real french bistro not overun with tourists and really cheap if you go for the 3 course menu if the day which is available in the evening as well. Cost for 3 courses is 20 euro which is reasonable for Paris

Starisnotanumber · 21/05/2019 20:08

The restaurant is actually called le 217 brasserie restaurant. It's metro station daumesnil.
Just checked it again

We wanted to go when we were in Paris last year but the kids refused, 'why would I want to see a pendulum' may have been said Confused. We all love Les Jardin de Luxembourg though.

I think what you see will really depend on if you've been before and what you've seen recently. If I had the weekend in Paris with DH I'd want to hit the art galleries after having to ration the culture with the DC.

Humphriescushion · 21/05/2019 20:53

Thank you star, will add it to my list.

Am back, had a great time. Location was great, easy to get everywhere and did loads of wandering. Catacombs was interesting and yes we paid for the skip the queue and was well worth it. Once inside was not crowded at all which impressed me ( having recently been to the war rooms in london where you could not turn around) and very eerie.
Had a lovely dinner in la marraiscalled la mangerie which was lovely ( tapas) you go through a cupboard to get into restaurant.
Thanks for all your advice.
