Recommendations for resort that is suitable for a wheelchair

We're thinking of going on our first holiday abroad with the kids next May, to either mainland Spain, Majorca, Menorca or Tenerife.

DS age 15 is disabled and a wheelchair user. I'm looking for a resort that is nice and flat, long promenade to stroll along, NOT cobbled streets!! There is also DD age 11 who would love a good pool with slides, sandy beach, possibly some entertainment at night. We think we'd like all inclusive but doesn't have to be.

Please does anyone have recommendations of a resort? It's got to be suitable for a wheelchair, because that will make or break our experience I think. We're nervous of going abroad so have done UK holidays since DS was a baby.

TIA

Plays de las Americas has lovely walkway along the beach plus wheelchair accessible beach at las vistas. You can see it on the webcam Tenerife las vista beach
Can't help with hotels as we do self catering and you'll need a wheelchair accessible room. Could help with area if you find a suitable hotel.
The area round Veronica's is a no-no for families that's only a very small part of the resort and it keeps the noisy drunks in one area

Possible hotels to start your search are la siesta and parque la Paz aparthotel.

The sol house Costa del sol is wheelchair accessible, and has a lift down to the promenade where you can walk along for miles. If you turn left its Torremolinos and to the right is Benalmadena. Only thing is there's no water slides at the hotel but another hotel nearby might have some?

Look at Matagorda near Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote. The Nautilus apartments there are specifically designed for wheelchair users.

Playa Blanca in Lanzarote and the Princess Yaiza hotel

Don't discount Torremolinos either. If you chose your hotel with a beachfront location it's brilliantly accessible - you can walk to Benalmadena marina if you like. Great beaches, shops and restaurants all on your doorstep, a temperate climate and short flight .

Costa Teguise in Lanzarote has a long, flat promenade. It is also worth talking to a travel agent. I have found that package holidays don't cost much more in the main holiday period than doing it piecemeal.

I hope you enjoy your holiday wherever you end up.

Look at Parque Santiago 3/4 in Tenerife, it’s on the edge of Playa de las Americas, right on the beach and promenade - which is long and flat. They are two linked apartment complexes, you can use the pools in both and PS3 has a kids pool with lots of slides.

I’m not sure on disabled/wheelchair-friendly apartments there but I’m sure I’ve read that they have them.

I think there’s a Medplaya hotel near the sol house mentioned above has some slides from memory- maybe for younger children though.
Also in Benalmadena there’s a hotel at the other end of the prom set back from it near the park that definitely has slides. Not sure about their disabled facilities but it’s handy for the promenade and park . It’s Los Patos Park.

I have been to lanzarote many times and have stayed at the nautilus in matagorda. It is fully equipped for wheelchair users and even has a pool hoist. It's also a really really nice apartment complex. Matagorda itself is completely wheelchair friendly too with ramp access to all the restaurants and shops, and there is a car free promenade that stretches all the way from arrecife to Puerto del Carmen. I would absolutely recommend this to go to. :)

Menorca, as an island, is investing a lot of money into becoming more accessible. Join Accessible Menorca Mobility Solutions on Facebook. They're incredibly helpful and can give advice on good resorts. Another place to look for hotels is Enable holidays. I usually do that then see if I can book direct or shop around for the best price.

Have been reading, as a wheelchair user, along. Will be checking out the suggestions too! If you're willing to "risk" Wink Tunisia, Hammamet is purposefully flat-built for tourists and has full wheelchair support. Portinatx in the NE of Ibiza is worth looking at also.

@tierraJ & @CrispbuttyNo1

I was coming on to say Nautilus in Matagorda too! I loved it there Grin
