Travel insurance to cover airline going bust?

Does anyone know what travel insurance specifically covers this? I have arranged a trip using an airline that I hadn't heard of but we had to get to an obscure place (family related). I can't find out how to check who offers this, or whether I get it separately to my main travel insurance?
Many thanks if you can help!

You need cover with ‘end supply failure’ - Post Office do this.

Brilliant, thanks for the quick reply. Can I do this online?
Also do you know if I need to start the cover in advance? I've always wondered, for example, I am going mid August but say they went bust in June do I need the cover to start earlier just in case, or the date I am due to go?

Yes - I did it online with the Post Office last night. Also looked at a couple of other places, but this was cheapest for us. The premium cover small print on this is attached Smile

Thanks, just I've just screen-shotted that too. Are you doing the multi trip cover?

Always get cover as soon as the holiday is booked OP, then you have cover for any potential issues between now and when you travel. Which airline are you travelling with?

Wizz Air - in the news this week for sexist illustrations on their safety cards!!!!

There is also 'scheduled airline failure' offered by a lot of insurers but quite often it's very conditional on the cheaper policies with lots of wiggle room (e.g the airline must be bonded in the UK - Wizz won't be!). We 're flying with an airline that looks ropey financially & I've got our insurance through Puffin. The Post Office insurance if there's not other conditions looks good though!

Pay on a credit card so you have s75 cca cover. You don't need insurance for the purpose you propose unless you need the cover for illness, loss of baggage etc.

Agree with paying by credit card. We were due to fly with monarch, and they went bust 2 days before our outward journey. We had scheduled airline failure cover but it only covered the return journey if we had already travelled out. We managed to book new flights and our credit card that we had used to pay for the original flights covered the new higher cost.

Thanks for suggestions but already paid for and I don't have a credit card unfortunately. I know that would have been the best way.

Thanks I've sorted it. For info for others in same situation, if you go onto MoneySupermarket.com there are filters and I selected optional features then selected airline cover failure and supplier cover failure.
