Is Cyprus for us.

We are looking for advice on holidaying in Cyprus, we normally go to Tenerife which we are going in June. We hope if not to expensive to go somewhere in November.
We are both retired so don't want to go in school holidays. We like entertainment, walking, some sightseeing. We have never been to any of the Greek islands but we wonder if Cyprus would be more busy and warm at that time of year. Looking at the resorts thinking of Pathos or Aya Nappa or if anyone has any other ideas.
Thanks for your help.

In November, the days are warm but the evenings can be cool so you’ll need jacket or jumper. Some of the hotels are busy, and have their own entertainment, some bars and restaurants may start to close at that time of year, so you may choose to go half board or all inclusive.

Paphos has a bus service which is good, the beaches are lovely and there are good shops. If you want to hire a car, they drive on the left as in the UK. The Troodos mountains are worth a trip, and there are lots of archaeological sites to see in and around Paphos.

Thank you for replying. Do you think it's an expensive place.

Paphos isnt very nice tbh.

Cheekyfeckery · 18/04/2019 21:43

We’ve had some really nice holidays in Paphos. Are you going all inclusive? Because the AI hotels have pretty much seen off the resort.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 18/04/2019 21:47

Paphos isnt very nice tbh.

In what way? My family want to go to Cyprus and I thought Paphos would be better than Ayia Napa.

Hollowvictory · 18/04/2019 21:49

It's not picturesque it's just not very attractive.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 18/04/2019 22:14

Really? I've been told by people that it was nice. I can't "visit" on Streetview which makes it difficult to tell. I was hoping for somewhere with a little harbour and shops.

MaybeitsMaybelline · 18/04/2019 22:17

Didn’t The Inbetweeners go to Ayia Napa?

Wouldn’t be on my list 😀

StarbucksSmarterSister · 18/04/2019 22:22

Nor mine normally but it is, allegedly, more of a family resort now and we are going in low season.

Personally I'd rather go to Crete but am out voted. :-(

OP sorry for hijacking your thread! Will pipe down now

We enjoyed Paphos. Quite a few sites of historical interest to visit and you can have a day in the Troodos mountains.
There's also a beach and entertainment near the front if you want it.

November can be rainy, go earlier in the month if you can.

Paphos is more of a year round resort and Ayia Napa more seasonable. Napa is prettier with a fab beach but it attracts a certain crowd in the summer. Might be ok in winter.

We are going to a very nice looking hotel in Paphos this summer. Adults only. This will be our first time in Greek Cyprus but we have visited Northern Cyprus three times and would thoroughly recommend it. We have stayed in Famagusta and Kyrenia. Don't think I would fancy Ayia Napa though - far too busy.

olivo · 26/04/2019 18:28

Be aware that in November, you will be 'out of season' so it may be very quiet. We have done both Sides and prefer the Paphos side, but stay well out of the town (45mins) The villages here are gorgeous.

olivo · 26/04/2019 18:31

Oh, and we are just back, things were just beginning to open for the summer. Previously, we have been at the end of October and things were in their final week. Both suited us, Pafos and Aiya Napa are too busy in season. We are a family, but don't actually like family resorts and hotels!

Avoid the resorts - you could be anywhere. Try some of the small villages- the people are wonderful and you get to see the real country. Try for an AirBnB or guest house.
