Has anyone been to centre parks? Is it good?

I think everyone has been! Yes it's excellent we go 2-3 times a year. But depends what you want. If you want butlins style entertainment, there isn't any.

Jiggles101 · 28/03/2019 19:30

It's eye wateringly expensive and not worth it imo.

Middle class Butlins as they say!

Hollowvictory · 28/03/2019 19:34

I don't think £100 each for a 3 night break for a family of 4 is 'eye wateringly' expensive!

Mingasauros · 28/03/2019 19:39

We're at Woburn now with a 3 year old and nearly 1 year old. They've both had a blast.

pansydansy · 28/03/2019 19:44

I've never been, the cost for 7 is eye watering 😳
Mil took dd last year though she loved it x

Jiggles101 · 28/03/2019 21:33

Maybe not but everything else cost loads on top, and the food is way overpriced

But how often can you go for that price? You might get it for that in November or January, but how much is it at Easter, or in the summer?

Missillusioned · 29/03/2019 08:35

I don't understand people saying it's a middle class butlins. Butlins doesn't seem to be much cheaper in the school holidays.

Hollowvictory · 29/03/2019 08:42

I wouldn't go at Easter or in summer ho!

sanityisamyth · 29/03/2019 08:45

I take my DS every year between Christmas and new year for his birthday. I go with friends and split the cost. It's amazing and something I hope I can do every year for him.

It's a bit marmite, so I think you'd have to go and see what you think. People either love it or hate it, as you'll see from this thread.

I personally love it, just as a guarantee that the kids won't get fed up - they love the pool, and the wildlife, so we can keep them happy there without paying for any of the extras. Imo the restaurants are pretty bad (apart from obligatory pancake house!), so we self cater - I take lots of ready done meals like chilli etc, to keep costs down.

Other downsides are the bun fight over changing rooms in pool - there are communal male/female rooms, which for me are a life saver, much better than waiting for a cubicle.

DerelictWreck · 29/03/2019 08:51

Yes we go once or twice a year and love it! That's there generations too as there's something for everyone.

It's not middle class butlins - they're very different!

We usually go on a January weekend (cheaper!), it's not too far from home, so we can go straight from school, and at a push, leave early Monday morning to get to school/work.

The kids absolutely love it, and we always come home feeling very wholesome - cycling/walking/running everywhere, exhausted every night after activities. We first went when kids were 2 and 13 weeks old, and have gone most years since (now 13 and 11). DS says it's his favourite place on earth.

I don't find the pricing of food etc extortionate, but you can always just bring food with you. And we try not to book too many activities (getting harder as they get older, and the free playgrounds etc no longer hold any interest), the pool definitely keeps you entertained for a long time.
