Transport museum in Covent Garden? (straightforward on the Piccadilly line from Hyde Park Corner - or get a bus and sit on the top deck for added transport excitement)

The Transport Museum is excellently. There’s a stamp trail around the museum, the new Future Engineers interactive gallery and an excellent play area for children up to the age of 7. londonist.com/2015/03/all-aboard-london-transport-museum-opens-new-family-play-zone it’s central but there is an admission charge for adults.
Mudlarks is one of my other favourite places to take young boys in London. www.museumoflondon.org.uk/museum-london-docklands/permanent-galleries/mudlarks-childrens-gallery It’s completely free but it might be a bit tricky if you’re arriving at Hyde Park Corner.
St James’s Park has a playground with an enormous sand pit with a stone bridge and a smaller, separate sand area for little ones. Swings, see-saw, climbing frame, slide, refreshment stand, children’s toilets and an attendant make this a great place to play. Also, the regimental bands warm up in the barracks across the way so you might get some tunes to liven your day! There are some pelicans in St James Park and you can watch them being fed fresh fish between 2:30pm and 3:00pm every day, next to Duck Island Cottage. Throwing the fish out takes just 10 minutes or so, but it's fun to watch.
If you fancy a trip on a bus without paying for an open top bus tour, the RV1 bus from Tower Gateway to Covent Garden goes past many of the big sites taking about 30 minutes. It’s a great alternative if you think your toddler would like a trip on a bus but you don’t think they will sit still through a long tour.
There are loads of street performers at Southbank, such as magicians and singers, as well as restaurants and cafes with good views across the river. Just behind the Southbank is the Jubilee Gardens where toddlers can let off a bit of steam. There is a great adventure playground and lots of grass for a picnic and play.
The Diana Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens has a huge wooden pirate ship, sensory trail, tepee and a beach set against a backdrop of trees and plants. There are also lots of seats for parents too.
Lots of visitors to London go to see the Changing of the Guard outside Buckingham Palace, but there can be large crowds making it difficult for little ones to see. An alternative, particularly for small children, is to head for Horse Guards Parade where the Queen’s Life Guard change at 11am Monday – Sat and 10am on a Sunday. There are smaller crowds and no railings between visitors and the guards taking place, and the whole event takes about 30 mins.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. Obviously their is so much to do and weather permitting we will try to keep outside if possible and see a few sights with them. Looking forward to the day to be honest

Hello. For my 6 year olds birthday we're taking the train to London for the day. We will have his 3 year old brother with us. We'll be there from about 10 til 5 and are planning to go to the London transport museum and we've got a 2 4 1 ticket. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to eat in that area that is reasonably/cheaply priced. Also do you think we'll have time for a bus tour after the museum? Thanks everyone for any help you can offer x
