Legoland. What do you have to pay for on top of your ticket?

We have been lucky enough to win 4 tickets to Legoland. The children are very excited as we've never been able to afford to go before. Dh has just come home and said that someone has told him that there are a lot of things to pay for once you get in there. Surely they just meant food and stuff from the gift shop, rather than rides? I expected that the rides would be included in the cost of the tickets (they are expensive IMO!) but now dh has put doubt in my mind. Do I need to start saving .

we took a packed lunch and spent about a fiver on icecreams!

have fun

Behind the digger challenge there is a marquee where you can buy assorted discounted stuff. A couple of weeks ago they were selling liittle packets of bits, form discontinued kits, by weight! I picked up a small carrier bag of stuff for a fiver, all strange and wonderful technical pieces which the DC have made into some amazing creations

LIZS · 12/07/2007 12:12

has the Viking Ride opened yet ? dc would like to go back but think it is only worthwhile if there is something different to do (debating Legoland, been twice, or Chessington atm)

ChippyMinton · 12/07/2007 13:20

The viking ride is a total building site! But legoland sent me a letter today saying "we are aiming to unveil the vikings river splash... on 9th August 2007 for all to see". Note the careful wording - we don't want to see it, we want to ride it! I'd ring before you go to double check it has actually opened.

Getting a bit p*ed off with legoland and this Viking ride . all the advertsiing at begining of sesaon raved about the ride , we have 2.5 months left of the season and it is still not open. I feel a complaint coming on ... misleading , what do you think ?

macwoozy · 12/07/2007 13:35

Pixel, were you aware that if you show your ds's DLA and diagnosis letter, he'll get an exit pass. You can then avoid the queues for the rides that he is able to go on.

Pixel · 12/07/2007 18:58

Yes, I've got a letter from Ds's teacher to say that he doesn't understand the concept of queuing, thanks

pixel you will find some useful info here about the exit pass

Bear in mind that legoland does get extremely busy at weekends and school holidays. Best time to visit is on an inset day if you can. Get there early too.

DrNortherner · 12/07/2007 19:32

So is lego land a good day out then? I have a free 1 night stay to use up at Marriott Slough Windsor which is not too far away, could tag it onto to legoland visit.

But we're in Yorkshire so a long way to go. Is it deffo wortyh it for a 5 yr old boy?

macwoozy · 12/07/2007 20:53

A 5 year old would love it. But if I had to pay full price I'd have to think twice. I think it's £33 per adult, and £25 per child, over £100 for a family of 4. If you use lastminute.com and can book 3 days ahead you can currently get it for £15 per adult, £10 per child.

collisionfrances · 14/07/2007 20:30

It is definitely worth it for a 5 year old boy!!

Book it!!
