Flying to Toulouse for a few days at Easter with DP. Will probably visit Carcassonne for a night or two but not sure where to head after that...East? South? Any suggestions or tips please?

Carcassonne is definitely worth seeing, as is Albi (about an hour from Toulouse) which has a wonderful cathedral and the Toulouse Lautrec museum. On a nice day pick any part of the canal du midi for a walk, it’s beautiful.

What else do you enjoy? Revel (about an hour from Toulouse) has one of the best farmers’s markets in France on a Saturday morning (although the road works in the centre of town are ruining it at the moment). The vide grenier season is kicking off - like car boot sales, you don’t know what you might find but if you can make it to rural ones there are loads of antiques and nicknacks for very reasonable prices.

I feel you want to go further than Carcassonne, then do Narbonne, Perpignan and see if you can make it to Collioure.

Thanks Booboostwo
Might do a few nights in Collioure, thanks for suggesting.

We holidayed in between Toulouse and Carcasonne last year, it was lovely. Toulouse itself has a great vibe, it's a University town, and has lovely architecture. Albi also beautiful, and echo the Toulouse Lautrec museum.

Not sure how long you've got, or what transport you'll have, but one thing we never got to was the Rennes-le-Chateau which has such a weird interesting story, I hope to get there one day.

There are lots of interesting Bastide towns in the area, we had a lovely day in Mirepoix.

Aigues-Mortes in the Camargue (and the salt plains, Camargue horses and wild flamingoes) was a lovely place for lunch, wish we'd had a little longer to explore more.

It really depends on how long you've got, and how far you'd like to travel.
