I have a real hankering at the moment to go to Paris with dh for a long weekend. Problem is we can't afford much and I was wondering if anyone knows of a little somewhere that is affordable and delicious at the same time... and that I can secretly book without his having to know too much about it!

You might want to buy an Independent on Sunday - they always have hotel and eurostar deals which are pretty good and non-skanky.

How lovely of you to want to take him away.

this place is supposed to be good. Haven't stayed there myself but I have friends that have a few times and loved it.

We and our friends went to Paris Novatel during half term. It was fab, but if you want something more charismatic then it's probably not for you. I'll find the link soon, but it was in a really nice, central part of Paris.

Got to wake up dd1 now but as soon as she's gone to school I'll get it. How many of you are there? 2 children go free in their parent's room.

This restaurant is fabulous. They do a wonderful tasting menu where they bring you course after course of delicious things you would probably never order yourself - one of the best meals I've ever had. They have a hotel too, but I think the hotel is quite pricey.
