New York - travel insurance

Can anyone recommend an insurer for a
Short family trip to NY?

Have got a quote from Post Office of £127ShockShock.

Only pre-existing condition is DD's mild asthma and we are only going for 5 days. Have been advised to get a policy for at least £10 million worth of cover for medical expenses but £127???

I always do a search using MoneySupermaket (or similar) when our annual travel policy is up for renewal. I pay a lot less than that for a year, worldwide (inc. US), so I'd keep looking

That sounds a lot! Try travelsupermarket.com - they have a travel insurance option in which you can input medical conditions and it will pull up a whole host of quotes for you. Worth double checking the policy terms on the cheapest!

Get an annual worldwide policy it will be similar price

insure and go are helpful for medical. Conditions just call them for a quote

You can compare different plans at www.aardvarkcompare.com or www.finder.com and chose the one that suits your needs best. I'm personally got a backpacker insurance from Allianz for almost £30 -- the price is for travelling up to 60 days in Europe with no existing medical conditions and it includes Insurance Premium Tax

I went via Trailfinders - for 3 of us to USA for 17 days was about 100, until I had to chat to the actual insurer about pre-existing conditions, when they (Allianz, I think) added 30 quid for ds and 75 for me. So if dd has asthma, that may be a good rate.

I’m going for five nights too and husband has a pre existing condition and we’ve have had quotes for £180 for single trip and £220 as an annual trip as our eldest child is over 18 so we have buy as a group insurance or put her separately.
