New York - travel insurance

Can anyone recommend an insurer for a
Short family trip to NY?

Have got a quote from Post Office of £127ShockShock.

Only pre-existing condition is DD's mild asthma and we are only going for 5 days. Have been advised to get a policy for at least £10 million worth of cover for medical expenses but £127???

I always do a search using MoneySupermaket (or similar) when our annual travel policy is up for renewal. I pay a lot less than that for a year, worldwide (inc. US), so I'd keep looking

That sounds a lot! Try travelsupermarket.com - they have a travel insurance option in which you can input medical conditions and it will pull up a whole host of quotes for you. Worth double checking the policy terms on the cheapest!

I usually use insureandgo

BlackPrism · 17/03/2019 13:32

My annual worldwide insurance is only £20 p/p... don't know where you're looking

Get an annual worldwide policy it will be similar price

insure and go are helpful for medical. Conditions just call them for a quote

You can compare different plans at www.aardvarkcompare.com or www.finder.com and chose the one that suits your needs best. I'm personally got a backpacker insurance from Allianz for almost £30 -- the price is for travelling up to 60 days in Europe with no existing medical conditions and it includes Insurance Premium Tax

I went via Trailfinders - for 3 of us to USA for 17 days was about 100, until I had to chat to the actual insurer about pre-existing conditions, when they (Allianz, I think) added 30 quid for ds and 75 for me. So if dd has asthma, that may be a good rate.

I’m going for five nights too and husband has a pre existing condition and we’ve have had quotes for £180 for single trip and £220 as an annual trip as our eldest child is over 18 so we have buy as a group insurance or put her separately.
