Travelling with Toddler

Any up to date tips for first holiday abroad with toddlers?

Dd is 2 and this will be her first time flying. Fairly short flight to Majorca, flying out of Manchester.

It's a 6:30am flight which means a middle of the night rude awakening, this is my main concern.

All travel and holiday advice welcome. I've an anxious personality and like to be prepared!

Order all your toddler food and nappies/baby wipes that you will need at the airport (both ends) and during the flight from Boots forcollection after all security checks.
This will hopefully save you some time in the security queue as you will have less liquids to be checked and will save room in your carry-on luggage.
You are allowed ONE standard airport shopping bag on to your flight in addition to your hand luggage. e.g You can have hand luggage + 1 Boots bag or hand luggage + a standard bag from another airport store.
Visit Boots hereand add any supplies needed into your normal online shopping basket. You can order baby milk, food, nappies, bottles, suntan lotion, makeup – basically anything they sell. When checking out, select delivery to store. Delivery is free on orders over £20. The system will ask you to search for a store, choose your airport. Be carefulthat you have selectedthe correct store as some airports have stores before security, as well as after security and several terminals.
Most airlines will allow you to take the pushchair right up to the plane door and then staff will pop it under with the luggage. Ask at check-in whether you get it back on the Tarmac once you've landed or whether it will turn up on the carousel.
You should get priority boarding.

Good toys to take:
A set of nesting eggs or stacking cups- can be used for playing hide and seek with snacks!
The humble balloon! I always pack a few, and you have a game of catch whilst waiting.
Finger Puppets
ELC star links
Fisher Price snap lock caterpillar
John Lewis discovery cube
Sticklebricks
Edushape curiosity cube

Half an hour before descent, get everyone ready. Pack bags, go to the toilet, find lost socks, so that you’re ready to get off the plane as soon as you land.
I always bought my nappies on holiday- just the local brand but I took swim nappies (enough for two or three a day) - they were much more expensive. Also I found that not many places sell nappy bags.
Pack a plug in night light.
I'd take a swim ring. I hate arm bands! Even with a float suit, you still have to be guiding them the whole time because if they tip forward they might not be able to right themselves. A swim ring will allow you more freedom.
Rinse or bath your LO after being in the pool because their skin is more sensitive to chlorine. Take your own sponge for bath time.
Check what the hotel will provide in the way of baby stuff e.g. bed rails, bath mats etc... and whether you have to reserve any of it in advance.
For first-aid I'd take plasters, calpol, piriton, sudocrem and a thermometer.
Don't forget bibs and beakers and a few plastic spoons.
If your LO is sharing your room, it might help to bring a headtorch if you have one so you can do nappy changes etc... without turning the main light on and disturbing your sleeping OH!
A baby monitor is also useful.
Are you taking a car seat? If you're hiring a car, I would seriously consider taking your own car seat. The car seats that come with hire cars in my experience have been awful and dangerous.

Thank you for so much detailed information, really appreciate it. Ordering from boots will be especially helpful. Going to look at some of those toys now.
