Booking package holiday just for the flights and transfer

Flight alone prices to Turkey (from Manchester) cost round£400 each this summer. I wondered if anyone has booked a package through the likes of Tui just for the flights and transfer? I can get a week B&B for under £500. Transfers and bags incl.
I'd then move on to another (glampsite ) I like the look of.
Has anyone done this or am I just making life too complicated for the sake of saving a bit of money? Added to that I'm a single parent and the package flight times horrendous!

I don't understand how you're saving money by booking a package holiday which includes accommodation, then paying for another lot of accommodation on top. Confused

Using a chartered flight ( part of a package) instead of a schedule airline definitely can be done.
However it’s normally because you can save on flights, but you want better accommodation than offered by the package. It’s not the cheapest option but a way of saving on the more expensive option if that makes sense. Will you save anything?
Look at flights on Tuesdays and consider doing less days if it’s all about budget.
Are you worried about transfers? Tripadvisor forums are excellent for asking advice and current costs/fares.

But surely if you book a package for a week they expect you to go home after a week and use the booked flight - you can't just stay an extra week unless you also book a separate return flight (and transfer). Sorry, not sure I am seeing how you think this would work if you intend going on to different accommodation (unless you book a two week package.

Don't know why anyone would want to go to Turkey.. but each to they're own.

have a look at some of the price comparison sites like skyscanner and momondo to see if you can find any cheaper flights there. Booking bits of a package etc can get way too complicated so just try and book the elements separately but cheaper.

Thanks everyone. I think I am over complicating things for little (if any!) gain.
Back to the drawing board Hmm

I have done this is the past - and to Turkey as well - actually stayed in the accommodation in Maramais for 1st and last nights - took off on a road trip for the 12 nights in between.

I know some e who did this in Spain. Didn't want to stay in some high rise hotel but used the package holiday as it saved money on the flight and then got in a hire car and drove out the town to some nice little villa. I assume they told a rep so the rep wasn't searching the airport for them.

This is a good idea - I’m going to look into it too.

I bet the t&c of the deal mean you have to use each component - so perhaps check in for one night to the package place.

BarbaraofSevillle · 12/03/2019 08:35

Are you sure the package includes transfers and bags? They are often excluded unless you pay extra these days.

I would have thought that flight only plus just one hold bag for the whole party plus your hand luggage allowance and transfers would be cheaper than any package unless it is a last minute deal.

If you need to go in the school holidays, I would look as late as possible in August, and possibly be flexible with the destination depending on where the cheapest flights are, that also has good value accommodation/ short/easy transfers (or just use public transport or a taxi when you get there).

I’ve used the package hotel as a base then gone off for some overnights in other villages, but that was more about convenience than saving saving money.
