Campsite with teenagers in the Dordogne -

We would like to go to the dordogne with our 2 teenage dds, 17 and 14. We would be hiring mobile home/lodge type accommodation. Any campsite recommendations? The dds would love to mess around in a river plus lots of activities. We would love a beautiful setting and a mobile home that is on a reasonable sized pitch with some privacy. (We stayed at a site in the vendee where the homes were crammed in and were only separated by a small deck - a bit grim!).

Pomport Beach has a lake with a nice sandy beach, kayaks, canoes and pedalos. It also has bike rental, a swimming pool with slides and another covered pool. It’s not a massive, busy campsite and there’s no evening entertainment which we liked as it was peaceful. I appreciated the library which had a range of books to borrow and a nice area to sit and read. You can order bread and pastries the day before and collect the following morning
between 8 et 10 at the bar. However, it’s not an especially picturesque site and the spacing between the rentals could be better (but doesn’t sound as bad as your one in the vendee!).
In terms of privacy, Le Paradis is excellent because you can get mobile homes with hedges around them. The site is also a lot more attractive than Pomport Beach. It’s on a riverbank and there are canoeing and kayaking trips organised in the summer, setting off from the on-site jetty. You can hire bikes from the site and there are three good paths immediately accessible which lead to nearby towns and villages. There are three pools and an activity programme for children 11+
Le Port de Limeuil also has direct river access. It’s probably one of the smallest sites we’ve been to and also one of the more relaxed. We went when the dc were young and you can float on the river with a swim ring, build little dams, skim stones etc... There were also canoes to hire. The river had a little sandy beach and the site allowed campfires or barbecues on the beach. It might be a bit too young for your teenagers, but my children enjoyed the trampolines and heated pool. We appreciated the tennis court, bike hire and well stocked shop. The village that it’s located in is beautiful.
St Avit Loisirs is a bigger, busier site but it has a lot more to offer and might be better for teens, although it’s not located on a river. There are too many activities to name and the swimming pool area is excellent. The mobile homes and chalets are fairly close but the site is very leafy and there are pockets of private areas so it didn’t feel too bad.
