Anyone ever done Gdansk, Warsaw or Wroclaw? Thinking of early April with two teenagers (18 and 13).

Wroclaw is lovely. Some nice squares, reasonably priced food and there are little brass gnomes everywhere. You can get a list from the tourist office and try to tick them off. Grin I also like Krakow.

Recently done Warsaw and loved it!

DS went to Kraków post GCSE and really liked it. They went down a salt mine and obviously went to Auschwitz. Kraków itself is really pretty apparently.

I lived in Wroclaw for a year some time ago. It's really nice, as is Gdańsk.

Krakow is very very touristy these days.

Warsaw has a pretty old town but very small compared with others. ThAt said there's plenty of other stuff to see there.

Gdansk is attractive and interesting and not mobbed by tourists, like Krakow, which I would avoid like the plague.

Went to Krakow a couple of years ago, loved it! I'm going to Wroclaw in April so if anyone has any tips...

I think Gdańsk is head and shoulders nicer to spend time in than Kraków. Kraków is great but having Gdynia and Sopot so close, nice beaches and it's a lot less touristy is a plus for me.

For camping Swornegacie is also great but a lot less English is spoken

When are you planning to go? I would go to Krakow! It was capital of Poland until 1609.

I love Krakow as all it's historical parts are at a walking distance. You can book a day trip from Krakow first going to Auschwitz in the morning and then to Wieliczka, the famous salt mine, in the afternoon. In town itself you need to visit it's Jewish quarter, take a walk alongside it's circular park called Planty.
On the main market visit the museum under Renaissance cloth hall Sukiennice, and Mariacki church which has been renovated in Renaissance style, make sure you climb it's tower to take view of the city. If you are interested in architecture then going by tram to Nowa Huta, there's monumental architecture and the Plac Centralny (Central Square) is surrounded apartment blocks built in Socialist Realism style. There are several museums in Krakow as well, most impoertan is mnk.pl/exhibitions/current.

It is lively town with many tourists but also in the old town center there are it's University's colleges and people also live there, is not a dead town by all means.
Nearby there's lovely national park, Ojcowski Park Narodowy. Well worth a day trip. www.ojcowskiparknarodowy.pl/main/General_information_about_the_park.html
From the airport you can take public transport to town, I think it takes only 30-35 min to get to the Old town center.

This is all fab advice! Thank-you. Planning to go in April for dd's 18th. Where have people stayed? And did you fly Ryanair? Was it okay?

I fly from Gatwick, usually with Easyjet.
I sometimes fly to Katowice airport as that is closer to my family.
