Holiday ideas for 12 & 16 year old

Last year's holiday (villa in southern Spain with a pool) was a disaster - youngest was too hot and once he got over the novelty of having a pool he was then bored. We were in a rural area and all the restaurants opened way past his bedtime (and hunger time) and all the food was too authentic for his fussy tastes.

In previous years we've gone to Cornwall, but he always used to be a 'go anywhere' type kid until he hit the pre teen moany phase.

I have no idea what kind of holiday to plan to please everyone. DS12 likes sporty active things (apart from cycling or long walks that don't have enough purpose), DS16 has more grown up tastes and likes culture, discovering new places, historic sites and cycling. DH likes the beach and the rest of us find that boring and too hot and sandy. I just want everyone to be happy.

I have a 12 year old ASD very fussy eater and he loves AI, plain food served at the same time in the same place every day perfect and they also do quite a wide range of food so everyone's happy as long as AI quality is good - check reviews first but we have never had a problem.

We've been to Estival Park in Spain and that might work - included a waterpark, 5 mins from beach, pools, entertainment, AI, close to Barcelona. It is hot but you can live in waterpark.

Or Austria - somewhere like Area 47 has lots of teenage type activities (not been) and can go up mountains if you are too hot. Think it has a beach. Lots of cycling and watersports.

Annecy - we did kayaking on the lake, bike ride, beach day with swimming - the water is lovely and clean. I much prefer it to sea / sand beaches. We watched an amazing fireworks display and did a day trip to CERN.

We flew to Geneva and hired a car (approx 1 hr drive)

The town itself is stunning and lovely ice cream shops.

Btw we're going to Duinrell this year!

Annecy is incredibly lovely, there is a shuttle coach from Geneva airport to Annecy gare that you can pre book online if you don’t want to hire a car. It’s a very outdoorsy place, everyone cycling, sailing, hiking etc. and swimming in the turquoise clear lake is wonderful- you can hire a pedalo and jump off, it’s not deep for a long way out.
