Days out in Manchester

New poster here.

I'm looking for ideas for family days out Manchester. I moved up here with my two young boys, almost 2 months ago, so I'm still new to the area.

We are quite a sporty family, so my friend recommended Chill Factore over half term, which was great fun and the boys loved it, but interested to find out where else is good for an adventurous family day out?

Get yourself a National Trust membership - loads to do.

Anglesey isn’t that far - that’s a wonderful place. Check out Anglesey Outdoor Centre. There’s accommodation /camping too.

If the boys are doing History subjects at school why not have away trip to some of the Historic sights?
Conwy Medieval walled town with castle, north Wales has about 30 castles, a friend visited every one with his daughter over a few days camping
On the way you pass a Roman Bath house just off the A55, whole mining village, the Funship, read the story then have walk around itdukeoflancaster.net

There’s a Go Ape at Rivington, near Bolton

Treetop Trek is a good high ropes course. www.treetoptrek.co.uk/manchester
Sky High also has high ropes but it’s indoors and there’s bouldering/rock climbing too. Plus it has one of the best indoor soft play for children up to 12yo.

Inflata Nation is an inflatable theme park and such good fun even for adults! www.inflatanation.com/locations/manchester/
Teamsport Indoor Karting has two venues - one quite central and another at Stretford.
Hyde Leisure Centre in Tameside has a large pool with a slide and water cannons, wave machine and water rapids, and geysers and bubble beds. You need to book on a Swim, Slide and Waves session. At weekends these are between 11.15 and 4 on Saturdays and between 9 and 4 on Sundays.
A little further afield, Tatton Park is a great day out. There are lots of walks, bike hire, a woodland play trail, den building zone, farm park with petting zoo and pedal tractors and a seasonal maize maze.

The Football museum is great for kids, especially if you all like sports. It’s set out in a really child friendly way and has lots to see and do.
It’s free to get in but you can pay for tokens to have a go on the interactive games, taking penalties against the virtual goalie, keepy uppy challenges etc.
There were families with kids of all ages when we went. It’s not a whole day, maybe 2-3 hours, but they also have a nice little cafe too where you can have lunch.
I would definitely recommend.

If you are NT members Lyme Park is brilliant. Including a massive adventure playground. If you are not you can still go there, pay to park, avoid the house and still enjoy huge grounds and the aforementioned adventure playground. Science and industry museum is also fab.
