We are planning a day out next weekend for ds 6 birthday just three of us. We live close to Chessington Thorpe park and paultons. Which is best do you think with more for this age?

Thanks

I know you haven't mentioned it as an option, but Legoland is fantastic for that age as, depending on height, your son should be able to go on all but one of the rides. I find that at Chessington/Thorpe park there are a lot of rides we can't go on, so there's a lot of disappointment and walking around to find another ride to go on. Whereas we've been going to Legoland since DD was 4.5 and there's only one ride she's too short for.

Both mine loved Peppa Pig at 6, you also have the rest of the park with lots of rides!

Chessington didnt go down so well as theres a lot they cant do.

We loved legoland as well... just not as much as Paultons as Paultons had so many rides for young people.

Paultons is great for that age. Was one of our favourites. Chessington was disappointing as she couldn't go on much at that age. Thorpe park is definitely for the older kids.

Sorry, just noticed you mentioned going next weekend. Legoland won't be open. Blush

Only a few rides open at Chessington this time of year. I think they focus a lot on the zoo activities around Feb half term.

I was very impressed with pautons, although 6 is on the old side for Peppa pig, if they are at all nervous of the bigger rides it's a good introduction. Didn't find it a rip off like Lego land either (check dates as pp said)

Paultons is better. There is more to do there. I took my little sister to Paultons almost three years ago. I was definitely impressed. And the prices are reasonable. She was two at the time. It was worth the drive down.
We had a blast there.
At Chessington there’s not much for little ones to do apart from the funhouse and age appropriate rides. And we went a year ago- only the zoo was operating. So we merely strolled around for two hours.

A little further away, but at this age he would absolutely love Diggerland!

Legoland but doubt it is open. Thorpe park has a funfair bit but mainly scary rollercoasters, Chessington has animals. Peppa Pig is probably too young.

We live close to all of these - don't know if Legoland is open and much as it's great for a 6 yr old I'm always put off by the horrendous queuing. Thorpe Park is limited for younger children. Paultons Park is fab - even is Peppa Pig is no longer for them there is plenty of other attractions to keep them busy - my 10 yr old is still happy to go there for the day. The newish dinosaur section is excellent and the Q's are usually pretty reasonable.

Peppa Pig rally isnt too young - its part of a larger park called Paultons. Lots of rides for older children, mine love the dinasaur themed area and the animatronic dinasaur.
There's 4D cinema etc.

Mine at 10 and 7 will still go on some peppa pig rides before exploring Paultons too anyway- especially the new 2 little boat ride and mini monorail.

PoptartPoptart · 17/02/2019 21:15

Definitely not Thorpe Park, it is geared much more towards older children/teens. Lots of big rollercoaster rides.
Chessington is ok, animals and Sealife Centre plus an ok range of rides for that age.
I think Paultons is definitely your best bet. It has a more family friendly appeal imo
