Canadian City Break in March?

Would you say that paying £350 to go to Toronto or Montreal to be worth it for a city break? Dp has an itch to fly far away but I think we'd be better off paying £100 and going to Seville. We'd probably have around a week to play with.

Is there enough to see in Toronto for a week say?

Is he happy with the snow and the cold then? That for me would be the real issue - we aren't used to driving in snow and ice and it an be very cold then. have a look at accuweather website with him if you want to check. Yes, there will be plenty to do as these are big cities with lots on. Personally, I would be on your side as I would want to escape from the cold. Have you looked at Barcelona or Rome for a city break for a week rather than Seville? you could easily spend a week in both of them and not be bored.

We both like snow, but not sure our experience of british winters can even be used as a comparison! We were in Rome last summer, and have barcelona already planned !

I did Toronto in March for a long weekend in march, and it was OK weatherwise. But it was my least favourite North American city to date (comparisons are NY, San Fran, Vancouver, Montreal, Quebec, Boston).

On the other hand, I LOVED Montreal. It would win hands down over Toronto. I can't quite put my finger on what it was about Toronto - there was nothing I didn't like especially, but I didn't find the 'wow factor'.

Montreal is a fascinating city - real mix of architecture and neighbourhoods. And the 'mont' itself was just lovely. We went in Sept, and the weather was lovely. I'd have thought for most of march it would be OK? Colder than here, obviously, but surely not all the snow they have mid-winter?

I'm not sure I'd spend a whole week in Montreal - but if I had a week to play with, I'd jump on the train up to Quebec and spend a couple of days there.

Definitely worth the hop over the Atlantic though!

One thing to watch out for - we found eating out to be really quite expensive in Canada - much more than we remembered. May be something to consider if you're on a budget, as it would be a shame to go all that way and then have to scratch around looking for budget options. The food was lovely though, and if you do end up going to Montreal, I'll happily send some reccos your way!
