Off to Athens at half term with teen dd for her birthday. We have approx 2 hour layover each way, one in Frankfurt one way and one in Munich the other. We are only away for 4 nights so packing light and don't have hold luggage booked anyway. Any wise tips to help things go smoothly?

Have a little over shoulder bag that sits close to your body for passports boarding passes and money to reduce faffing and panicking, and a Wheely carry on size bag.

I recently flew Lufthansa and changed at Frankfurt. First flight was delayed and they were great at keeping us informed, we were getting emails re gates times. I think you've made a great choice re airline.

I did a similar journey about 2 years ago as the flights were so much cheaper than flying direct at a peak holiday time.
Both airports were as efficient as we’d anticipated so no worries about the transfer but there weren’t many facilities for refreshments in the terminals we were in, which surprised us.
Just a minor thing to note, in case you go wandering to relieve any boredom or to stretch your legs: On our way home via Frankfurt we accidentally exited the ‘airside’ of the terminal following signs for lost property as there were no passport or other barriers to alert us. We realised this and stopped walking as soon as we saw we were heading towards revolving doors to the outside, as people were arriving with luggage and going into the terminal. We tried to turn back but were re-directed through the terminal security. This caused a minor problem, not least because we were carrying our duty free booze and other liquids from the Italian departure airport. However, as the booze was in the sealed duty free bags with the receipt clearly visible inside, the officials kindly let us proceed back into the terminal. We had to bin the other items, naturally. The helpful officers were bemused that we were surprised at being able to exit the terminal without any passport or customs checks immediately after walking off a plane.
I’d certainly look to flying Lufthansa again as both legs of the journey were easy and efficient.

Glad Lufthansa gets the thumbs up here as I didn't have the choice of airline, or whether to fly direct or not when I booked as not that many flights were released for the off peak time of travelling.

We have cabin luggage sized rucksacks and I do already have a cross body passport wallet which I will make sure I will take.

@Italia2005 Frankfurt can be a bit of a pain for that if you're moving between terminals! Happens to me regularly and I go there all the time...

With two hour layovers you'll be absolutely fine OP. MUC terminal two (the LH terminal) in particular has loads to do!

You'll need to go through passport control when you arrive in Germany from the UK, it'll be well signposted. You'll also need to go through passport control when you leave Germany back to the UK, so if you're travelling with g by ildren who can't use the e passport gates leave an extra few minutes as the manned gates can be a bit queue-y

Thanks. Dd is 17 and the trip is her 18th gift as she's 18 just after we get back so she'll probably be telling me where to go and what to do.
