Thinking of going in August. I know it's the winter there but looks like it will be pleasantly warm, like a British summer day? Will it be sunny enough for a spot of sunbathing and swimming in the sea?

Any opinions on Coogee Beach? I have my eye on the Crowne Plaza hotel there, looks amazing.

The sea will be similar to the English Channel in August.

Winter in Sydney can be quite windy and nights are pretty cold. My point of reference isn’t great as I’ve only done Sydney winters while living in Australia, but it definitely wasn’t sunbathing. Jumper weather usually - maxes of 16 degrees or so...

Coogee beach is beautiful, a much nicer area than Bondi in my experience. I’m now a coogee local though so my opinion might be a bit biased :) The weather will be chilly, and the water especially, but you still might get sunny days in the low 20s and there’s always . There’s lovely coastal walks north and south from coogee which are great to do in winter. There’s a few devoted groups of locals who swim all year round, so if you do have a dip you won’t be alone.

Lots of busses from coogee into the cbd and Bondi junction so it’s easy to travel around from.

It probably won't be warm enough for sunbathing, but hopefully still warn enough just to wear a long sleeved shirt of light jacket. If not raining, it would be pretty ideal weather for walking and exploring - without getting too hot.

I'm biased because I prefer the Sydney winter over the summer Grin

Thanks all. Is there much rain in August?

No, the winter is the driest part of the year.

Sounds perfect we’re thinking about a fly drive in July
