Going to New York in April or August for a week & looking for direct flights - 2 adults + 11 year old. Have been to USA only twice before - once BA & once Virgin - considering them again only colleague mentioned her parents went to US with Norwegian & were impressed - anyone used them & have any + or - points ? TIA

So the Zurich website is wrong then? How odd. It raised alarm bells with me.

What I do find odd (extremely!) behaviour is quite why you felt the need to go through what must have been pages of Insurance policy documents! And yes, following your comments I did check with them - a fun filled 30 minutes of being passed around departments. The agent I spoke to went off to speak to his Manager & I twice asked if we’d be covered raising the points you have mentioned. This does appear to be rather important to you so please do give them a call. On another note, in terms of whether they are a scheduled airline or not, they are on the Centre of Aviations list of low cost scheduled airlines. Whether that makes them a scheduled airline or not, I’m quite sure you’ll tell me!

It really depends on the price. If the saving is huge (which it often is but more with west coast) then go for it. It's fine. But you have to pay for baggage, food etc so factor that in or remember to bring your own blanket nd food. If the price difference is marginal I'd chose BA, it's just all round 'easier'. I find NYC flights are always cheap with BA.

I would pick Norwegian over virgin though any day who gave me the worst food poisoning I'd ever had in my life.

I flew Norwegian Air to NY a few weeks ago, I paid for a premium ticket.
I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience

Flown with them twice. Once economy once premium. Thought they were great.

SJane: I checked to see if the Zurich deal was as good as it looked and whether I might insure with them. Ok? Am I allowed to do that when I’m in the market for insurance?

Of course you did. Which is why you went through the policy to find the scheduled airline policy riders in relation to Norwegian (an airline you believe about to go bankrupt and wouldn't fly) & spent what must have been some time researching where Norwegian were bonded and looking up if they were on the BAR list of members. Sounds like completely disinterested and non point scoring behaviour to me.
