Alhambra, Granada - is it worth the cost!!

We have booked a long weekend for the first May bank holiday staying just outside Granada. We are planning on hiking in the Sierra Nevada one day and sightseeing in Granada another including a flamenco. I know that to get tickets for Alhambra you need to book in advance but they all seem really expensive. The site I was on, which I think is the official site, looked like tickets were starting at €43pp so for a family of four we are looking at the best part of €200!!

Has anyone been? Is it really this expensive and if so is it worth it?

My favourite ever city break was Granada, great place! The Alhambra is amazing, as is the Generalife. We could have spent ages wandering there. Also walk through the Albaicin area up to the view point of the Alhambra by St Nicolas church, really buzzy in the evenings.

Go first thing in the morning and bring sandwiches/packed lunch/drinks. Personally I didn't think the extra fee for the Nasirid Palace was worth it, too long spent in queuing and the pictures are nicer than RL. Definitely factor in enough time for a stroll around Albacin, it's like a mini Marrakesh.

I found the Nasirid Palaces the best bit by far! Agree, take some food, though. The options on site are not good.
