Dh, dd (11) and I coming to London on the Saturday evening, dinner with marathon runner friend then stay overnight. On the sunday it will be- watch and support marathon runner and fly at 8pm from Gatwick.

London experts, what would you do?

Do you know where you’re going to stand to watch your friend? And are you going to meet them at the finish?
Also, will you be leaving your luggage at the hotel or will you have it with you?

What spare time to you actually have?

Would recommend just finding one spot to watch your runner, it's crazily busy and quite hard nowadays to follow them around.

Are you following runner around? It's doable but you need a plan.
Other than that don't forget that the marathon causes a fair amount of mayhem for anywhere on the route....
Where are you staying? Will you have all your stuff with you sat as that will be more awkward in crowds

I'm not seeing a lot of spare time in that schedule!

Marathon Day causes a fair amount of disruption making getting around harder.

What sort of thing would you want to do?

Do have a browse in the MN London topic

It's gone a bit quiet in there, but there are lots of threads froldt r w brilliant recommendations

How much time do you have for sightseeing, and where are you staying?

Remember there are extensive road closures for the Marathon, so you'll probably need to use the Tube rather than buses. You DD will need a child paper travelcard, or an Oyster with 'young visitor' applied, to get child concessionary rates (Tube is not free once age 11)

Oooh I think I need to do a bit more research! Excellent advice thank you all.
